Here is my first build log on my first wooden ship kit. I chose this particular kit as there is a lot of information on the web relating to it and most reviews/builds I have seen say it really is suitable for beginners like me. I am not expecting miracles from this kit given my ability level...
This is the HMS Bounty by Occre. I began this at the end of April 2023.
There has been progress, though it's slowed since the sun began to shine a little more!
I decided to not only take on the challenge of the build, but also adding lighting.
Here are a few images so far.
Good morning.
Just a show and tell of before, during and after pics of my project to renovate  His Majesty’s Armed Vessel Bounty.
I have a challenge from my son to do this at a near as possible zero cost.
1: PRE FACE LIFT
2: “Shredded “
3: Hull :
I got some walnut and Sapele veneer...
Just claiming my little space to start my building journey. Awaiting my kit. I built a ship over 10 years ago. I finished it, but could have been my better. Had no idea about planking. More learning resources available these days, so I have high hopes. Between then and now I have experience...
Well its time for a new build now that ENDEAVOUR is ostensibly complete.
My next choice of kit still had to have an Australian flavour so I chose the BOUNTY. Choosing which BOUNTY to buld came down to what I could afford and what was available. I considered the Artesania version but was not...
I was given this model by a fellow modeler. His intentions were to do a restoration of it. I might have underestimated the undertaking but it will definitely be fun to restore, as I have never done a restoration before. As you can see the orginal builder didnt use any blocks at all in the...
Hi all
The Turtle Ship is arriving to an end. So I started to think, " what next ? ". After a lot of thoughts, I decided to finish a project I started 22 years ago. Precisely in 2000 when we were living in Belgium. Unfortunately, for the model, 1.5 years after I started it we relocated to USA...
Well, I decided to record my progress on the HMS Bounty. For two purposes:
First, I would like to use this log to drive my work. If people are watching me then I would not get lazy to play around for something else.
Second, I am new in building ships. Thus if I make some mistakes, you...
This the start of my build log for the HMS Bounty. Purchased this kit in the mid 90s and just getting around to really do it.
It is a single plank kit with 2 exposed decks and I have never seen this kit anywhere or seen a build log of it so I hope this helps.
I have partly built the hull and...
Starting to build the HMS Bounty. I have started to cut the frames out I currently have 18 Frames roughed out out of the 42 required.
I bought a steam generator and built a steam box to steam the planks for bending. I also bought a thin rip jig for my table saw to mill my own planks.
I had to...
Here goes, my "first" ship kit build. I say first because the others I made were as a teenager and I didn't really put much time or effort into those.
Anyway, the HMS Bounty by Revell. Old mould that dates back to 1956. Was state of the art then, not so much anymore. The kit has many issues with...
Time to take myself back to my first plank on bulkhead boat I managed to get this one for a steal of a price part started but only the keel and since then I have added the bulkheads and ready for deck planking.
Hi all,
well my initial plans were to build the ZHL Black Pearl scenario kit, I was just about to place in my order on the weekend when !!!!!!
I decided to visit one of the local Hobby shops I hadn't been in a while.. turned out to be a kid in a candy store situation LOL
to my surprised, most...
I'm really excited about my new kit from Model Shipways Inc that just arrived. I purchased the HMS Bounty Launch 1:16 scale for a good deal at 22% off and she looks wonderful. This will be my 1st attempt at building a POF kit. I originally picked up MS 1:24 scale English Pinnace to build but I...
OK, before I start, first I know the ship is more correctly referred to as H.M.A.S. Bounty but I am using the name on the kit box. Second, it looks to me, after referencing John McKay's excellent book in the Anatomy of the Ship series, that the boat in this kit is really the 20' cutter and not...
This is the Artesania Latina 1/25th scale kit. I originally purchased this kit over 20 years ago and had just started planking the hull when a change of residence put the project on hold. The only thing I can find from that time is the unfinished hull and a few odd parts. Last week I was able...
I should have started this build log some time ago, here goes anyway.
I got this ship from a friend who started the build but got frustrated and gave up. When I got this ship it was partly under way and I was concentrating on building Endeavour. I put Bounty away for a while and then started...
