Artesania Latina Anatomy of Lord Nelson’s HMS Victory 1805

Instructions video #28 completed

In this part I prepare and fit various details on the middle gun deck including gratings, shot racks and shot, stairs to the lower gun deck, capstans, the galley aft of the stove area and the ward room pantry towards the stern. The following photos should be self explanatory. One issue I did have was that the 2 capstans coming up from the lower gun deck protruded too high through the middle deck for some reason, so I had to make some adaptations so the middle deck capstans sat at the correct height. Finally in this video I file out a groove and enlarge the hole at the bow bulkhead to test fit the bowsprit for fitting in the future

Hey Allan,

What pictures, and what a treat! I'm so happy to hear from you and read your posts. :D Simply wonderful. You're building the HMS Victory beautifully. I'll take a leaf out of your book. I'm studying your build report closely and will make a note of all the mistakes you've discovered... Thanks for sharing...:DFirst Place Metal:DFirst Place Metal

PART P70 NOTICE

I have just started video #29 which is solely related to building the stove
As usual I made a note and collected all the parts required but couldn’t find P70 on the PE sheets anywhere. Finally in desperation after checking multiple times, I contacted AL to be told that P70 wasn’t included in the first production run and they would send me the part. They didn’t say what the time frame of the first production run was but I ordered my kit in late October’24. I suggest anyone doing this kit to check your PE sheets now and if P70 is missing contact AL asap so you are not held up when the time comes to fit it

Hey Alan,

It's really wonderful how you're building the HMS, it's amazing. Thanks for pointing that out. I checked the P circuit board straight away and you're right, part P70 is missing. It's strange, I have P69 and P71, but I can't find it either. I'll write to AL and order part P70. Unless it's possible to recreate it. What do you think?

Hi Gunter
Glad you’ve noticed that
Re making it yourself, it’s hard to see the exact shape etc on the video, looks like a S or Z shape. If you’re not desperate for it yet then contact AL. I emailed them yesterday late evening and they answered within half an hour. You should get the part in about a week judging from other items they’ve sent to me
Regards
Alan

Instructions video #29 completed

A testament to the detail in this kit, video #29 is solely concerned with building the ships stove. Many PE parts and brass rods have to be bent to shape and assembled together
A couple of issues, PE part P70 was not on my PE sheets (as mentioned above) and after contacting AL I was told it was not included in the first production run, they didn’t say why but they are sending me the part. I’ve decided to crack on and finish it as the part (P70) is quite small and located on the port side of the stove so will barely be visible once everything is closed in
When it arrives I will try to fit it in situ.
Again I had to open up the pre drilled holes to take the eyelets EB
Again, pictures below are in build order and should be self explanatory.
