You are showing nails on the planks, at the edge of the square mast plate. The planks would normally go up to and around the mast hole. Then the mast has a base ring on top of the deck planks, which is round. If you want to leave that area unplanked to show the mast plate at the deck level, then the boards are actually cut short for viewing purposes and would not have nails. That is what confused me.No reason to worry Dean
I thought I had done something wrong, but the other mast with the square is for the aft deck

The round ring fits there
At the foredeck I have placed in such a way that all deck elements fit here
