Thank you Heinrich for your continued support and kind words. I am trying to give this build my best effort, I just have to use discipline not to rush because I want to see it all come together. In my minds eye I see what it will look like, and I sometimes can't wait to make it happen... ha ha!I can only echo everyone's sentiments, Dean. I have already expressed my appreciation for the cleanliness and creativity of your build. Let's make them beautiful. We can do it!
It had its challenges, but I do like working with the veneer. I find it’s easier than the thick boards. Although I think the real fun is looking at it when it’s finished...lolI am sure that looking back on the planking now, that was fun as well!
Very elegant!Did a few cannon doors to see what they will look like. Used some veneer from the hull wood and put on top of ply doors provided and painted edges black.
Thank you very much! That planking looks absolutely exquisite! Well done Dean!
Thanks Paul. This is my first time to do a double plank, and I think you will surprise yourself at what you are capable of. If you use a thin veneer for the second plank, it is actually much easier to work with!Magnificent planking Dean! My fear that I cannot come close to matching your work (and many others on this forum) has me in denial and relegated to painting castings as if she will plank herself. Your woodworking precision might just inspire to move on! Thanks for sharing!
@paulv1958, Thank you, I think I read your build log 20 times while I was waiting on this kit to arrive. So it definitely helped prepare me and gave some valuable insight into some of the problem areas. Funny thing is my kit has no brass cannons or pullies, they are all cast. Guess they must have changed the kit.Great Job! the Veneer is a joy to work with on this kit.
