It has gone from slow but steady to I am afraid a complete standstill (for now). Wow, my last post showing some progress already dates back to the 5th of April. What happened? Really nothing special. I was busy with several parts of the build and from one day to the next it seemed like I lost the momentum and it seemed everything I picked up went wrong; even the steam cleaner with which I made the wood flexible broke down. Before it started to really bother me, I thought it would be wise to put the build aside for a while. And now 'a while' has gone to almost 5 months. How is your build going on Herman?
Good to hear from you Herman. We'll all be here when its time for you to resume your wonderful build...It has gone from slow but steady to I am afraid a complete standstill (for now). Life has gotten in the way I think is the expression. In the meantime we went on vacation, welcomed our 2nd grandchild, all positive, but at the same time there are quite a few worries about my mother (94) and the parents in-law. And spare time in the summer is anyway mostly spent gardening and some overdue paintwork on the house.
Anyway, I have certainly not given up, I continue to enjoy all the build logs here and hope to continue construction soon, especially now that autumn is just around the corner.
Good morning Herman. Life does that sometimes, and it’s never a bad thing to have a break from ship building. Congratulations on the arrival of your second grandchild- awesome. Keep well. Thank you Grant.Good morning Herman. Life does that sometimes, and it’s never a bad thing to have a break from ship building. Congratulations on the arrival of your second grandchild- awesome. Keep well. Cheers Grant
Great job! This is a beautiful ship! I'll be following your progress! It feels good to be back in the shipyard after a break, a break much longer than I had expected it to be.
I have decided to continue the construction by making the wales. The first and simplest have now been made and installed on both sides of the model, of course again with scarphed joints. The run of these wales cross one gunport so those too have been constructed, the first of many to come.

Next weekend a short break (again), to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary together with our children and grandchildren.
About 2 weeks ago my mother was finally admitted to a nursing home and that gave me peace of mind after a worrying period. At that same day you asked for an update and that combination helped me get over the hurdle againA pleasure to see you back at the workbench, Herman!
Good morning Herman. So good to see you in your shipyard again. As expected your wales are spot on. 40 years is fantastic and a celebration to look forward to next weekend. Excellent.
