It feels good to be back in the shipyard after a break, a break much longer than I had expected it to be.

I have decided to continue the construction by making the wales. The first and simplest have now been made and installed on both sides of the model, of course again with scarphed joints. The run of these wales cross one gunport so those too have been constructed, the first of many to come.

Next weekend a short break (again), to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary together with our children and grandchildren.
It is still a pleasure to hear your approach. Neat, Herman. And ....... enjoy your 40th wedding anniversary.:)ExplosionBottle
Regards, Peter

Gorgeous, as always, Herman! I am glad that you are able to care for your mother and that you have restored some peace of mind. This is all completely relatable, at the moment.
She had home care 5 times a day and my brother, who is already retired, and I took care for her as long as it was doable. But as she couldn't get in bed by herself or stand up from a chair it was no longer manageable nor responsible. The new reality is better for all of us and gives us rest knowing she is being taken care of.

Nice to see you back and that your private situation give you more rest.
Btw I love the view of your ship on the workbench. Miss my work someti es too, but to much things pass my pad at the moment.

Good morning Herman. So good to see you in your shipyard again. As expected your wales are spot on. 40 years is fantastic and a celebration to look forward to next weekend. Excellent. Cheers Grant
Hi Grant, thank you, you were up early this morning. We are certainly looking forward to it. Not only for our 40th anniversary but we will also celibrate the traditional "Sinterklaas" party with mutual gifts/surprises. First time with both grandchildren. My wife went all out on the gifts, I hope I can stow it all in my car ROTF

It‘s nice to see you back in the shipyard. I‘ve missed the updates of your beautiful build
Thank you Christian. Happy to be back again.
As we speak the front parts of the next set of wales are bent and drying clamped to the model to keep them permanently in shape before making the recesses in them for the gunports.

Thank you Stephan.
Sometimes it simply goes deeper than what you describe in your slogan "If you can't, take a cup of coffee and try again later".
I hope your situation settles down a bit so that you too can come back to the workbench. Looking forward to it.

Dear Herman. It is good to see that despite all the personal setbacks, you have not given up on the mighty 7P. I will always follow along and support your efforts to model what was surely the epitome of Dutch shipbuilding in the 17th Century.

Dear Heinrich. Thank you for your kind words. It is not in my nature to give up so I will do everything I can not to fail on my first project.
Starting from scratch might not be ideal or advisable but it is very rewarding. I am gaining more and more experience as I go and am advancing more accurately than at the start of construction. As a result I encounter some earlier made flaws too drastic for a redo, so I will apply the lessons learned to keep it all pleasing to the eye.
Thank you for the assistance given and I trust I can count on your support in the future.
