Over the last few weeks I have been making the gunport lids in order to installing the wales on the model. The outside of the gunport lids are now done. The planking on the inside and the hinges/rings I will leave for later.
The wales have now been installed.

The last part of the wales will be installed when the wulf and sternbeam have been painted/installed.

And the model including the gunport lids.

The colour of the gunport lids do not totally correspond with the surrounding planking. I should probably have kept some of the original planking and in addition have made the gunport lids without re-do's, to keep the colour the same. The pear wood will darken in time and maybe I will do some experiments with some vinegar/steelwool and look if I can adjust the colour somewhat. In the end I think I will treat the wood with Clou and then wax/bitumen. That might solve the issue.

The wales and the gunport lids fits very nice, Herman. And about the color of the planking? My impression was ‘he used the cutout parts!’. With your intended possible treatment, things will probably work out fine.
