in conclusion to today's class

Scratch building does not just mean building a plank on frame model scratch building means anything from a solid hull to a framed hull and anything in between. You do not need a high-end CAD program to layout your parts you can do it analog with pencil and paper, drawing programs or CAD programs. Designing your project from square one is stimulating, frustrating, a rewarding all at the same time. Plue you are not limited to the commercial market and what is offered to the hobby there are literally thousands and thousands of subjects available.

Designing a project starts in your head and what you want to accomplish then once you have the end game, the goal it is a mechanical process of making it happen. The 3D model in the posts are what i am seeing in my head first then figure out how to do it.

Anyone and everyone is invited to bring to the class any subject and in class we can take a look at it and discuss how to design it. As you can see there are classrooms available as sub folders.

by the way the plan is to offer the laser cutting files, the CAD drawings for those who want to cut out their own parts and a set of laser cut parts for a bulkhead model. Also a plank on frame semi kit and a cross section of the engine room with a 3d printed kit of the engine.

take a look at one of the cylinders done by a sos member
