HIGH HOPES, WILD MEN AND THE DEVIL’S JAW - Willem Barentsz Kolderstok 1:50

@Maarten Hi Maarten. Thank you very much for the picture. What is interesting is that bulkhead #6 in the kit conforms to that first "frame" (indicated by the arrow) in the picture below. It is significant, because it indicates the widest point of the hull and care has to be taken to fair that bulkhead correctly.

What is interesting is that both the Speeljacht (that @rtibbs ) is building and the Fluit (which is under development) is also constructed via the "shell-first" method, just like Dutch ships were built originally.
Hi Heinrich,

Yes the fluit would be an interesting build. Finally a propet dutch fluitschip in a kit.

Real impressive how you execute this build ánd simultaneously keep an extensive build log with valuable information. Okay
Thank you Johan. I am glad you enjoy the build and the log.

Haha first I have to finish Alert and Royal Caroline. But in my mind it is already build and I have already thought out how I will build it as it will be shell first :-)
Just re read Ab book Witsens scheepsbouw konst opengesteld ad study material for all dimensions, so there is already work in progresss.

Hello Everyone. Today was spent tidying up, doing final sanding and so on.

Final Sanding done on the planked portion (there wasn't much to do). Starboard Side

Rear three-quarter view port side. On this picture you can also see that all curvatures at the stern had been filed and sanded to shape. I also cut the channel at the stem for the keel to fit which took the most time.

View from the top showing what the planking looks like on the other side and the beautiful lines of the ship. Notice just how bulbous the hull is midships.

And then with six days left until it is Christmas, Anna and I would like to take the opportunity of wishing you all a very blessed Christmas and a New Year that is filled with health and personal happiness for you all. Thank you for the wonderful times and moments that we could share as kindred spirits in 2021 and may it abound in 2022!

That has all been my pleasure Roger - and the spin-off is that I get to meet and make wonderful new friends such as you!

Heinrich and Anna,

For both of you a very nice christmas, and a good jump into the new year. The Chinese new year will start a bit later (the first of februari when I'm correct) and then you should have been moved into your new appartment, with a new job ahead. Good luck with that!

And a huge thank you for your nice build log here!

Hans

Hi Heinrich.
So far you have done a beautiful and neat work. The planks gives her a very nicely sway. And I'm pretty sure the rest of the hull and build gets just as much love and attention. Which is also my wish for you and Anna.
Regards, Peter
