That is very interesting Stephan! Those gaps were not there when the hull was planked. With the walnut I have never had an issue with the wood contracting or expanding - it seems like the oak is more sensitive. In any case the hull portion that extends above the deck, still needs to get a second layer of inner planking. Then I will pay attention to that.I see gaps on the bow.
maybe fill them with pieces of the same wood, that works
In that case it looks like the planks want to go in their straight form. I like oak, for my furniture but not for modelling. Especially such a small ship makes it hard to work with. Ronald Vis and his Commerce de Marseille uses oak for the frames, but I seen these frames and they are big. In that case it looks to me okay to use oak. But I tried once oak, and that was no succes, the grain was not in scale. Hope you can fix this. That is very interesting Stephan! Those gaps were not there when the hull was planked. Well, surprise us Heinrich, my friend. Afteral, you are pretty good in surprisesThank you, my friend! Yes, the stern is next - I might come up with a surprise where I break away completely from Hoving. Kolderstok and De Weerdt's plans, and follow the diary drawings of De Veer.![]()
Placing such a number of beams so neatly is quite a task, Heinrich. They are looking nice and accentuate the sway. And let us finish the weekend with a last shot of the center canopy's roof beams finally installed.

Thank you very much for the kind words, Peter! The very good design by @Kolderstok Hans has actually made it considerably easier than it looks!Placing such a number of beams so neatly is quite a task, Heinrich. They are looking nice and accentuate the sway.
Regards, Peter
Indeed, Peter - totally different. No, the covering of the center canopy is still as per Ab's plans as you can see below. The De Veer diary will come into play a little later - I am still working up the guts for that! This is quite different from WB1 my friend, is this canopy covering what you ment by mentioning the " de Veer's diary "??
It sure is going to look verry good
Hoi Peter. No, I am playing around with the idea of railings at the stern as my favorite picture of De Veer shows. Heinrich and making railings are not good friends - hence the guts that I have to summon up if this is the way that I choose to go.Why do you have to work your guts up my friend, can/will you lift a tip of the vale??
