HMS ALERT 1777 cutter POF by shota70 [COMPLETED BUILD]

I really like the rustic looks of your cannons, Shota! The appearance is very authentic.
Dear Heinrich
thank you very much for your kind words and compliments, It gives me strength to continue the slightly tedious process :D

good evening dear friends
Today I made another small step forward, all the cannon carts were assembled. This process required fine adjustments throughout in order to create carts that are compatible and identical to each other.
I have still need to install the metal parts after they have been browned (hinges, pegs and screws). After that I will continue to make the blocks and the ropes that tie the carts to the side and deck of the ship.
meantime, be impressed and enjoy the photos

They surely are an impressive sight. And beatifully aligned;). Well done.

I am happy to report that the gun carriages are set up and ready for the for the inspection of the ship's artillery officer.;):D
I have finished installing all the metal parts for the carts, made color corrections and finally applied oil to emphasize the colors of the wood and the red.
I have learned a lot from the process and below are the most notable lessons:
the wood that used for the front axle of the carts is not strong enough and may simply crumble/disintegrate with a little pressure applied.

It is recommended to slightly widen the holes in the wheels (using round and fine sandpaper by hand) to reduce the pressure on the axles.

Do the gluing only after full adjustment between all parts of the cart

In the coming days I will start preparing all the blocks, ropes and metal parts required to anchor the cart to the ship's side and dock

Good night everyone

Good morning Shota. Those are mighty fine cannons. Cheers Grant

good evening dear friends
After several days that I have not being free to work on the model today I managed to get few hours tonight to continue creating the carts.
You won't believe it, but I spent about four hours to applying three layers of red paint on all the parts that make up six carts.
I intend to leave the remaining six in their natural wood color.
If you see in the pictures small areas without color, it's in the areas where the gluing will be done. I was afraid that a layer of color, would weaken it . in any case after the gluing they would be un visible at all. That's all, but it gives me great satisfaction!
Good night to all of us

That red shade is simply perfect: One of the most suitable I've ever seen!

Hello dear friends,
today I continued working on the cannon carts. today I made the different parts of the Ring bolt and ring for breeching rope as well as the Breoching rope.
After several hours I was able to prepare all the parts required for the 12 carts as well as assemble the parts on one cart to make sure it comes out as required.
Before installation, I deepened the rounded socket in the side of the cart into which the rounded hinges coming out of the cannon fit and the Carraige cheek rests on it.
I am attaching photos of the process, and I wish us all a good and blessed week

Hello dear friends,

Do you know the feeling of moving at the pace of a turtle during the creation of the model or parts of it?
This is what I feel when it comes to making the cannon carts, this is of course due to the lack of time I have during the week when I am mostly busy with work and family and also because of the desire to be meticulous about the details and to raise the level of the product in their creation.
today I finished preparing and installing the different parts of the Ring bolt and ring for breaching rope as well as the Breeching rope in the 12 carts.
On the other hand, if I had seen this with another builder, I might have asked how long it already takes to make 12 carts? so today I salute to the friends who build dozens and with inspiring quality.

I will end my words by wishing a happy and sweet New Year to all people and humanity :D:)ExplosionBottle. I wish all of us much more enjoyment from creating models Ship-1AnchorBeer and that our world will be a better place for everyone and for nature
(tomorrow evening we celebrate the beginning of the Jewish year)20230914_211206.jpg20230914_211211.jpg20230914_211217.jpg

Happy New Year Shota! Please don't apologize for slow progress - sometimes we can only do what we can do. When I build, I also need proper time to sit down and work slowly - hasty and rushed work invariably turn into a mess.
