HMS Blandford Project Main Support Page

Hi Eric ,I would suggest you to go a professional printing service and print one page of the plans and check the measurements and if they are right than go ahead and print the rest, I can’t print them at home either no matter what setting I am using the measurement are off.Tell them to print them as it is do not change the scale.

Thanks guys, I will take them to an office depot. I Australia the 'depot' is called OfficeWorks, they sell everything from pencil leads to tea, coffee and biscuits, oh, as well as paperclips.
Eric

Ok, guys, I took the files to OfficeWorks and had them printed on A3 size paper and they are the correct size. After paying for the prints ($10+) I then purchased a new printer that can print A3 size, DUH! tested it and measurements are the same.
I sometimes wonder why we were given common sense, we are highly intelligent beings but when it comes to common sense we are sorely lacking. Click here if you agree.

Hi Eric,
Welcome to the build. Common sense was not a strong trait in my family either, but we can usually work around it. I am looking forward to your build log.

Hi Mike41, I have a few questions as I am ready to order more materials for part 3 and 4, and need some verification on both the plans and BOM, but first 2 questions on the Frames, ONE I am on Frame No. 8, on the revised drawing you show PART 8-13 as revised that seems to work, but you also show Frame No. 8-7 it is completly different then Frame No. 8-1, AM I MISSING SOMETHING HERE, next one I am in a senior citzen mode of not getting my BRAIN to Work, HAVING dificulty understanding the beveling of AFT FRAMES 6-9, could you try to help me there,,,NOW TO Questions on BOM AND PLANS FOR PART 3 and 4 THE BOM says the DECK CLAMPS ARE 13/16 X 5/32 the dimesions on the plans work out to be LOWER DECK CLAMP 7/16 X 5/32 and the UPPER DECK CLAMP 11/32 X 5/32 am i corect in this,,,, LOWER DECK FRAMEING the BOM says 18 pcs lower deck planking( 1/4 X 3/32 and 7pcs 3/8 X3/32) question is where is the planking being refered to is it exterior or what (as an aside I have not heard the term FOOITWALLING before what is its function),,, also on PAT No 3 CROSS SECTION there is a gap between the footwalling After the 3rd STRAKE, I also took the height of the cut off for the frames from the CROSS SECTION FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE KEEL TO THE TOF FRAME TRIM LINE is this OK, one other thing the CROSS SECTION SHOWS LODGING KNEES KNESS I ASSUME THIS IS PART OF THE BEAM AM I CORRECT. that should do it for now, and should I post this on my Blanford Build MAYBE JUST YOUR ANSWERS. THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL YOUR KIND HELP. Don

Hi Don, I saw your post and had a look at my drawings (I haven't got that far with the frames yet). frame section 1 and frame section 7 must be the same shape only 7 is a mirror of 1 , so just cut out two pieces of section 1 and you will be right (or left or right and left).
The other queries in your post Don, I can't help you there as I have not studied that area of the plans as yet.
Regards
Eric

Hi Don,
Check your log for my response.

its been a while since i looked in as I wanted the plans to get all corrected etc before I jumped in. so is there a link to the current version of the plans?

Ok I got a dumb question and it may have come up and I just overlooked it.

On the keel plans its all flat and stepped, however on the profile view all the frames are sweeping up in a curve and seems to go higher than the actual keel is.

Hi Joe,
There is a piece of deadwood attached to the keel from Frame 5 to Frame 9, it is so thin I made it part of the keel for simplicity.

Grazie in anticipo a tutti voi.

Hello to all of you and forgive the intrusion but I would like to ask if anyone could kindly clarify my precepts. From the two possible scales of 1/48 and 1/32 could you tell me the thickness of the scenes? This way I would be able to return to the correct format of the prints. Thanks in advance to all of you.

If you are speaking of the thickness of frame wood the 1/32 uses 1/4" wood the 1/48 uses 3/16" wood, You will want to print on 11X17 paper for the correct size using 1to1 ratio

Grazie, gentilissimo, ma un chiarimento finale nella scala 1/32 lo spessore di 1/4 si riferisce allo spessore del quinto completo o alle due parti che lo compongono.
Grazie ancora

Translation below
Thank you, very kind, but a final explanation in the 1/32 scale the thickness of 1/4 refers to the thickness of the fifth complete or the two parts that compose it. Thanks again.
Can anyone help Giancarlo. @zoly99sask
