HMS GRANADO 1:48 scale PoF CAF Model by Keith

Hi everyone. Welcome again and thanks for your interest in my build log on this the beginning of August and the eighth month of this Granado project. l am still working on construction of the aft platform deck and cabins. As can be seen there are a lot of component parts to prepare and hopefully the will all fit nicely into place. l'm not really expecting too many problems and have roughly dry fitted some of the parts. With a little jiggling they should all fit OK. a little more to do and we shall see

Very good progress - it is looking impressive, when all these elements are prepared and ready for installation

Aft platform decks and cabins are now complete. l shall attempt to place the whole assembly into position and see how it fits . . .
Looks great, and a much better way of putting it together. Hopefully you've checked the framing above it for fit as well, although you can modify the top of the walls if required. Good luck with the fit - looking forward to seeing it.

Thanks very much my friend. l will check the beams above as part of the fitting the assembly.

These and the previous photos were taken over the space of a few days. The cabin assembly needed a little work just to get it to this stage of dry fitting into the hull. It is almost there with a little fine tuning. As Signet mentioned, the deck beams and frames above will also now have to be checked for height and alignment

Good afternoon Keith, looks wonderful and a clever way of doing it. I would never get the measurements precise enough to fit in the hull. I hope it fits all good. Cheers Grant

I am with you Grant.
Keef, That took a lot of confidence (bravery) to build these as preassemblies and your results show it can be done. I would really be scared to try it but your posts show there are alternatives for all of us to try if we wish to. Thanks for sharing.
Allan

Interesting and different way of assembling (compared to my way) - different but very good -> Bravo!
I am more the step by step installer
Please check the last bulkhead - it is maybe not fitting so good to the form of the hull - but iut depends how much will be later visible

Thanks Uwe. You are very correct. That last bulkhead does not fit at all well to the shape of the hull. Fore and aft position is correct, aligning with the front of rib 47 and also the height is right with the other components and it sits on the keelson as it should but the shape is totally wrong. Will look into the problem

Things are getting a bit busy below decks. More work in progress on the platform decks and main deck beams. l admit to not being too happy with the alignment of the 3rd row of carlings above the lower stern cabins. lt looks to be due to the misplacement of a cross beam. l hope with the addition of the rest of the carlings and the 2 x 2 mm ledges your eye will be distracted but at the moment it doesn't look very good. There is also the quarter deck with cabins to go over the top so l doubt too much will be visible. That's my get out anyway. The main and mizzen mast steps have also been added and shown are the 2 templates supplied to position the masts, which are, at the moment, only temporary placed. After all the carlings and ledges have been added, next will be the construction of the well shed for two of the four elmtree pumps to go into. So in a few weeks the hull can finally be released from the cradle (can't wait) bringing part 2 of the Granado build to an end
