HMS Vanguard 1787 1:72 a Victory Models kit

Wow! that's is beautiful.
Thank you for your kind remarks. It is starting to look like a ship.

Starting to look pretty wonderful, Michael. As I have said before - rigging is your jam...
Thank you Paul. Your evaluation is well received and highly valued.

Absolutely beautiful work!

Thanks Andre. I think your work is outstanding but I haven’t seen any recent updates. I look forward to seeing your progress.

Hate to say it but the blocks are upside down :( The lines should run over the would-be sheave rather than under the sheave and over the tail piece of the block. You can drill additional hole though so you do not have to re-rig the blocks, IF you want to. I have no idea why, but this is a common mistake. Does the kit show the blocks like this?

Thanks for the correction Allan and Franck. Unfortunately I am not disturbed enough by their orientation to redo them.
Hopefully it will not detract from the overall appearance. I will not make the same error on my next build.

Boomkins installed.
All gunports lids installed.
All yards lifted, but not enough parrell beads to lift the driver gaff and boom on the mizzen mast, I have ordered some more.
Three more sheets of rigging to complete the running lines.
Thanks for checking in on my final run to the finish.

Looking super Michael,

Did the kit supply the closed hearts used for the stays?

Thanks

Allan
Hi Allan. The kit supplied closed hearts but I purchased aftermarket open and closed hearts to replace the kit ones which I didn’t like.

Hello Chestcutter,

really nice Work. It is amazing.....

Danke schön Günther. It is slow going but very enjoyable and the end result is rewarding.

The rigging of the Vanguard continues.

I had to delay the installation of the gaff and driver boom due to lack of parral beads (trucks), to get wooden 2mm beads was very costly with most suppliers selling them as single beads. I needed 26 and they were selling at a price of $0.45AUD each. So I ordered beads from Temu https://www.temu.com/au/1000pcs-2mm...&refer_page_id=10009_1747559688337_d2hdbr4yyd and got 1000 for $2.06 AUD. The beads are a reasonable likeness of the wooden versions. Good colour.

The rigging is time consuming and getting harder as the number of lines and protruding parts that can catch my sleeve or be bumped by my hands as I rig is substantial.

I build my model in my garage which is environmentally not insulated and so keeping the model dust free is a challenge.

I have developed a method of shrouding the model with a series of shawls the admiral donated and butchers paper and unused surgical hand towels. It takes about 7 minutes to drape and undrape the model.

Thanks for visiting.
