Also added the manropes to the bowsprit and used the technique of spacing the knots as described by Arthur (@aew ) and I think it worked well.
Starting doing the top shrouds.
Thanks for calling in to see my build.
Good morning. This is very good rigging. Your crows feet tension is brilliant, bowsprit hand line knots and deadeyes all in line create a wonderful symmetry on your ship. Way to go. Cheers Grant

Took me a while to catch up on your build. You have done really high quality work. extremely nice looking ship.
Thank you for your kind comments Greg.

Thank you Grant. You are always very generous in your assessment. I will continue to strive to create a high standard of rigging so please check back soon.

After a short Christmas break I’m back in the shipyard.

Have now finished the fore, main topmast stays and preventers and the mizzen stay. That completes the ten stay mice (?mouses) as part of the standing rigging.

Next job is ratlines for the top shrouds then moving up to topgallants.

Thanks for your kind remarks and continued interest in my work Grant.
I am unsure if the plural of a stay mouse is “stay mice”, it doesn’t sound right to my ear but I am happy to be corrected by some of our more knowledgeable members.

Well I have finished all the ratlines. :)
Added the jibboom and dolphin striker.

The model is now getting difficult to access and to photograph in one frame. I have installed the fore and main topgallant masts and tops. The crosstrees and trestletrees especially for the mizzen are very delicate and fragile and difficult to work with. If I did this again I would fabricate my own from stronger more dense wood.

I need a ladder to get to the top areas, probably a MI Tom Cruise style trapeze would be handy, but ladder will have to do.
All of this work for the last 4-5 months has been off one sheet, Tavola 8, amazing amount of stuff to do from one plan.
Thanks for stopping by.

Wow! She's turning into a real beauty!

The overhead shot is very interesting, but it feels like a pending 911 emergency as you lose your balance and end up impaled by the main mast. Chestcutter indeed...

Thanks Paul your interest is appreciated.
Perhaps I won’t use the ladder as a regular means of access.
I am still trying to improve my photography of the rigging details. The distant shots show the overall changes but fail to demonstrate the detail and magnitude of work done.

....perhaps 'stays mouse'....like courts martial or surgeons general?

lol

Sorry to those interested in my build, as there has been a lull caused by the loss of my most loyal and loving companion who is pictured on my Avatar.
Her name was Ginger and she loved to watch me build my ships and never said a bad word about my building skills. I miss her tremendously.
Only just managed to get back to the shipyard now and have completed the Part 2 of rigging and everything shown on Tavola 8 of the plans.
I mounted the figurehead and the top rails, and rigged the longboat tackles.

The next order of business is backstays and shifting stays followed by the lower yards.

In the meantime I made a woodworking bench for larger projects.

My sympathies to you for the loss of your beloved friend. It is never easy and every time we have had to go through it, we say, "That's it - no more - we can't endure this again." And then, in a few months ...

The workmanship on your Victory stands above most - very well done! And your workbench - tres magnifique!

Russ Thank you for your kind words, they are so true. The ship is the Vanguard but is very similar to Victory so an easy mis-identification.
The workbench is inviting me to undertake some construction projects and an urge to buy some big boy tools to help along the way. ;)

Sorry to hear about your friend.
Paul, thank you for your kindness. It all helps me to regain some composure.
Perhaps you should give the figurehead a ginger beard. Pets can steal your hear in unique ways, I have mourned a few cats more than I have people I knew.
Cats have a strong historical presence on tall ships, I am not sure why dogs do not.
I’m not inclined to memorialise Ginger in the figurehead’s face, but it is a nice thought. I will remember her everywhere I look.
Thank you Alan for your kindness.
