HMS Victory Mantua 1:78 (first build) by Grant Tyler

ROTF ROTF ROTF I dont know how the last photo crept in. Here you can see the 3mm blocks for the Martingales which run through the dolphin strike through these blocks and will be tied to the knighthead through another 3mm block and tackle system- this is WIP. WHEW this bowsprit is insane complex!!

Cheers Grant
Horses, hounds, dolphins, mice .... a regular zoo you're running there Grant? ROTF

Seriously though, great work indeed! I don't know if I'm more impressed with your modelling skills or the ease with which you now speak this strange nautical language Thumbsup

Ever set of photos is a joy to see!! Thank you for the update and I have to agree with doc on the ship and on the good decision your wife made as well
Good morning Rob. Thanks Rob. Yes Paul sent me a PM and kicked my challenge character into gear. I cannot thank him enough has made all the difference to my Victory. Cheers Grant

Man, you took the words right out of my mouth. I have some time now to study the pictures that you have posted and tried to work out what you are saying. It is simply unbelievable to think of how complex that bowsprit is - I have seen some similar rigging in builds of the Royal Caroline, but nothing that has the sheer enormity of rigging that is involved here. When you have nailed all of this (and I purposely use the word "when" not "if"), I am sure that no ship's rigging will ever pose a problem to you. Well done Grant - this is some seriously intricate work.
Good morning Heinrich. Thank you- your comments and continued support during my build is special. I have struggled with the bowsprit rigging, so many “on the ship” whippings, additional blocks, collars and pendants to add. Been fun tho. Not as neat as I hoped for however everything works as it should. The scary thing is I’m not even half way with what goes onto this bowsprit. Whew....Cheers Grant

Good morning Mark. ROTFROTF. You left out the snake (ing) , cats (paws, head), worm(ing), hogs (heads), bulls (eyes), fish, goose (neck), crow (nest, feet) and lizard...I’m sure there are moreROTFROTF. These British are nuts I tell you. They even have “Snotting” in their riggingSick.

Thanks for looking in and your compliment. Cheers Grant

Good morning John. Thanks for this. I am very happy to have this on my log. It is great. I agree re the intimidation part- a rookie error thinking I could build this as my first ship. I had no idea the complexity of this hobby. It is just me that when I start something I must finish it. Loving it tho. Cheers Grant

Good morning. This morning after fighting with my bowsprit I decided to leave it alone for a while. Making the 2nd slider collar is proving to be a challenge. Added some coins into my bad word jar for sure- catching you up Jan @Pathfinder65 ROTF

Went back to adding some more ratlines and started the catharpins on the foremast.

Always good to shift your focus. The ratlines is also such a ongoing process. And you continue to take beautiful detail photos, Grant.
Regard, Peter
