L’Hermione La Fayette 1:89 (New kit) - Artesania Latina

Hi all I have not been ruptured and am indeed still around!

Had to stow my ship indefinitely due to circumstances. Having a young family does that to modeling.

Happily, this unfortunate state of affairs should be coming to a close soon, at which point I will resume building.

So, we begin! My first ship since 2009, when I completed the old Hermione kit from AL. Suffice it to say I was much younger then and I simply ‘winged it’!
Built the whole model in 5 months doing 9 hours a day. (Interestingly, the instructions booklet missed a lot of steps so no wonder. The new instructions are in CD, writable, and much clearer).

Also, this is my first build log! Bear with me, I’m learning :)


Unboxing the kit it becomes apparent how AL has opted for cheeper woods (probably due to the ship being painted). Still, I miss the variety of colours and woods.

Plywood laser cut elements.

Same mono-colour scheme for the spars and planks.

Hi Uwek, thank you for the wishes!
Regrettably my progress has come to a halt.

I was intending to resume after a lengthy pause but it seems I will have to pause once again.
As frustrating as it is, it is beter in the long run than rushing to a ‘finish line’.

I’m sure when the moment is ripe, I’ll be a riggin’!

Nice build and very good paint work. I was wondering how many hours a day you are building?

I have taken what was meant initially as a short break, but which has become a sabbatical of sorts. That is to say, work is paused for now.

But when I was active I would usually put in 2-3 hours of work a day.
 
Hi Bryan, thanks man! I unfortunately had to take a hiatus of indefinite time, but will complete it one day.

Concerning the CD, I can upload them and send you a download link, maybe via WeTransfer. No problem.
 
wow..didn't expect a reply so rapidly,...WeTransfer sounds ok...new to me but i'll work it out....do you need my email..not sure about protocols about email addresses on this forum...
