Le Soleil Royal ZHL Build Log [COMPLETED BUILD]

Maybe it's still worth turning them to a smaller thickness? Then they will bend more easily, and lie down more tightly.
These are the 4 elements I had to bend
I put some heat on them using a heat gun and then slowly bent the upper part. Be careful not to break them while doing that. I broke 1 of them and had to repair using CA.
Why did they make them so fat and misshapen in the first place? Sorry, rhetorical question.

This part of the kit would also drive me up the wall. Hang in there young man - you can do it!

After all the holes are filled with scraps, and the shape is refined by filing and sanding, the finished galleries will look really nice.
Thanks for the encouragement, guys! It’s needed at this point. It’s been good to watch your builds and others to see how patient you are and willing to tear things apart and redo them.

This is what I did. Got tired of fighting it. The castings will eventually be reduced as much as possible and will be inlaid if I have to. There will also be some modification to the "bell" as I go along to get the castings to fit. I originally didn't like a whole lot of the ornamentation hanging off in space. I realize Mr. Deep will poo poo it, but, what the heck. I've seen many variations of this thing on line. So, this is my version. Aren't instructions just supposed to be a "guide"? Plus, I'm really not sure if anyone knows what this thing originally looked like?

Yours looks good. I may wind up redoing the whole thing. Who knows. I also looked at the curved supports that go between the aft chaser guns. Maybe I’ll just have the one end stick out on the bottom. It’s weird looking, but I don’t know if I have the heart and guts to cut and bend all that metal and leave it looking mangled.

As of yet, I have not really looked at the curved supports or other casting except to inventory.

I dry-fitted a decorative pillar with the shape of a woman next to the rear of the bell before building the bell. Do you have enough room on the right for her with your bell? I'm finding I have to take a whole bunch of things into account before construction of some of these elements. The ornaments are especially giving me fits.

I was planning on "shaving" down the right side to make her fit and repaint, touch up. Or shape the figure a little bit. Plus, looks like it needs to be shortened. Kind of going by the seat of my pants.
