Modelship Dockyard - New Kit [Modelship Dockyard] PoF H.M.S. Enterprize 1774, the 1/48 version!

Always keep in mind these large POF kits are not for the faint of hearted, there will always be a large part of experience needed to build these, as they are really complicated models.
You can't put experience or technical skill in a manual and also a manual will never cover all topics to build a model.
The more you build the more clear it becomes, in the end you don't need a manual to build, only a parts list. Or you need it to look what you did wrong when you screwed up :-) .

Building should be about fun, but selecting a kit way above your current skill will not provide that or you must prefer a steep learning curve.
Hi Maarten
I agree with you in that no instruction manual can substitute for experience and technical skill, or cover all possible topics of a complex model. However, very few people, even in this group with so many talented and highly accomplished builders, are up to your level of professionalism and expertise. In fact, were it not for the help provided by members through the build pictures, videos, tips, advice, the general quality of everyone's builds would not be nearly as good as it is. Everybody learns, everybody gets better. It is the closest to an apprenticeship or guild ...As I see it, a good manual saves time and at least for me, mistakes. I don't think many members of SOS could complete a ship like Alert without mistakes and in reasonable time with only a parts list, even if the parts list was complete (it isn't). At the very least, a good manual should not be detrimental, but help with the build.
Enough of that..
Your builds are inspiring and brilliant...

We will start shipping in the Chinese market at the end of September, which is made by Chinese customers and is nearing completion
Great workmanship by your Chinese customer. Did you mean above that you started selling the kit in China in September ?

Lots of SOS members are looking forward to the upcoming USA release of the kit. I assume it will be sold by Dockyard Models. Will Zolly or someone else do the unboxing ? Any word on Le Fleuron ?
Thanks a lot

Congrats Jeff.
I'll be watching your build. I'm trying to finish my other projects so I can get started as soon as Enterprize arrives. Should be fun. Maybe we can get a list from Zoly of the SOS members who have ordered the kit and we can either apply to do a formal group build or just watch each others' builds.

I will need to get my other projects cleared off my benches. I just started the Amati HMS Fly about a week ago and also working on some legs for a table and a cabinet for LP records.

Great news, Jeff! Out of curiosity, do you plan to start the build log as well?

Hi Alex, there is nothing to see on those attachments.

Sorry, Jim. I had a couple of pictures of paintings of the Enterprize from the Science Museum in London, but they came in upside down and I did not know how to rotate them..so I deleted them and thought the whole post was deleted. Do you know how to rotate an uploaded image?

You can attach the images, I will rotate them.

Very interesting kit - POF HMS Enterprise in 1:48 - what do you need more?

In the following topic you will find some historical information about the ship and the class as well as some contemporary drawings of the ship
