MY BLUENOSE- YUANQING SCALE 1:72 SCALE [COMPLETED BUILD]

Looking good Lawrence! The char is like playing with coal, you get dirty! :p But luckily the deck beams are CNC cut, so you get a break on those! ;)
Hello Dean ,I thank you very much for your very kind words and nice comments. The char is not all that bad compared to the tons of sawdust and shavings that I would of had with a scratch build. I have not looked at the deck beams but that sounds real good.
Regards Lawrence

Hello Ship Mates, The little fellows and I have completed the next set of 8 frames that we now have dry fitted into the ships keel. These will have to be tweaked before they are installed into the building jig. We are almost to the half waypoint.

Looks like we will have to take a few days off as all of this char removal and the flaring of the frames have left me with cracked thumps, nothing to worry about that a few days off wont fix.

Oh boy. Those frame sit super-beautiful on that keel. They are all kissing that rabbet line - you can get them this good, you can't get them any better! Well done my friend. Sorry about the thumbs, but hey, soak them in some methylated spirits and go on. That way you get nice callouses - an old guitar-player's trick!

I'll hold back a little longer, so I can start following you... ;)

Heinrich, I thank you for your very kind words and comments. I never heard of this methylated spirits, will have to look into it, Thanks. This time of year my hands dry out a chap, should of been paying more attention and applied some hand cream and this would have avoided this little headache, the char removal just added to the problem. I think that I will give it a day or so, or maybe wear latex gloves.
Regards Lawrence

Those new frames looks very nice and have a very nice fit in the keel. So, the invested time pays out!
Regards, Peter
Hello Peter, Thank you very much for your very kind words and nice comments. Yes she is starting to show her great lines. Decided to take a few days off to let my thumps recover just a bit. The right one is much better today but the left still is a bit touchy, so this will give me a chance to paint up some cargo for my Oliver Cromwell. A little change is as good as a rest.
Regards Lawrence

Hello Ship Mates, Well this has been a mixed up week as we took a few days off our YQ-Bluenose to give our hands a chance to recover. All of this filing and sanding the char away. I find that it dries out my hands causing them to crack especially my thrums. Never the less the little fellows and I did get the next set of 8 frames cleaned up and dry fitted, bring us up to # 32, still have a long way to go.

Hi Lawrence. And another part of 8 frames! They look very nice with a very good fit to the rabbet.
And in the 'look through picture', they stand very nice in their place. That will definitely turn out all right.
Regards, Peter

Hello Peter, I thank you very much for your very kind words and nice comments. Yes these frames seam much like mounting and rigging cannons on the HMS Victory, but we are slowly getting there.
Regards Lawrence

Looks great Lawrence! It’s not a race, so take all the time you need. ;)
Hello Dean, I thank you for your very kind words. No it is not a race building the YQ-Bluenose it is just the doing things over and over that kind of drags me down. I know that it should not after spending over 3 years on my Oliver Cromwell scratch build. This kit thing is much easier but it takes away some of the satisfaction of building a ship, just a bit.
Regards Lawrence

So true, no race. I'm retired, so no deadlines, just enjoying the journey.

Hello Johan, This is very true, I have been retired for over 20 years now and the Old Ship Yard has been a blessing with many pleasant hours dwindled away.
Actually, it was a manager at Lockheed's, who used the quote: "It's the journey, not the destination". It stuck with me ever since. This a very good quote that is so very much true.
Regards Lawrence
