• "Thank you for your Donations and Support"
As we close this Annual Donations Drive, I want to thank you all for your Generosity in Donating to Ships of Scale. It is Greatly Apreciated !!!
Ships of Scale continues to explore exciting things to offer to the Ship Building Community.

NORSKE LOVE - Billing Boats 1:75 scale

Or maybe some lanterns???

I don't mean to nag you about this - it just looks a bit spartan to my eye. Of course, I don't know where you are going with the rest of this build so my suggestions could be completely out of place. I was picturing an ornate 17th century Norwegian brothel but you probably have something else in mind ROTF.
Perhaps some red lanterns on the wall? :p
I thought adding the columns would be a vast improvement? ;)
I do like the wood grain on the plywood panels.

Dean... fantastic job you are doing. I have this thread in watch, but for some reason I missed it almost all. I just did a catchup and I am speechless with your precision and detailed job.

Cheers
Daniel

Thank you Daniel! I appreciate that! As you know ,we become our own worst critic, and many times I have been unsatisfied with what I’m doing. But have to keep reminding myself that perfection is a nice goal, but unobtainable! So I move forward knowing I gave it my best…lol. ;)

I know the feeling Paul! We went to the design center when we were building our home, to pick out cabinets, counter tops, flooring, light fixtures, etc. We left way over budget! The defaults are horrible, so you end up upgrading everything! They count on this! :(
We had to redo our bathroom. The only thing I was right about in our earlier estimates were the three zeros before the decimal point... And not in our favor either.

The wall underneath the bow deck…
After sanding to fit, I did the initial stain…

I have to say, it sure has been a lot of work to get this far! Tomorrow I will glue the wall and bow deck in place. ;)

Beautiful work all around! I do have to ask though about the sailboat in the background by the window sill. An earlier model? Your log is as much of a modeling tutorial as a record of your progress. You reward all of SoS with your work. Rich

Thank you very much Rich, that is very nice of you to say.
The sailboat is a cheap trinket I bought at the store many years ago. Probably cost $20! Not sure why I hung on to it this long. :p

After gluing in the wall and bow deck, I cut out some emblems or crests that go on the walls.
I used my magnifying glasses and an xacto knife.

Then I did some painting on them…

You have once again done very precise minute trimming of these emblems and set them will in place on the panels. Rich

Not being happy yet, I opted to use black around the emblems. I also created an enclosure to place under the deck opening for the grating, which I then painted black inside.
Now I can start deck planking…

And when your figurehead starts talking like that, you better listen! :p
