LOL, we are thinking alike...Wondering when it's time to take a break? When you're figurehead starts communicating with you...
Of course I’m joking and don’t converse with my figurehead!I am glad you are in synch with your figurehead (honestly if you are talking to a figurehead and vice versa, it scares me a bit), I always ask myself if I took the right pill in the morning
But...kidding aside, I am not happy with your emblems either. They look lonely like a spot. There are four panels on each side, but only one emblem per side. Also, being the deck a bit dark, for my taste (IMHO), the panels are also in the same color tone you might need to put something lighter in those panels. Maybe be maple moldings inside the pannels? It is ONLY my personal observation, and most likely the only one. Take it lightly, mone Amigo!
The simple answer to who do you listen to is - You and ONLY you (not the figureheadAs you might imagine my head is spinning and I can’t possibly listen to everyone or I’ll be chasing my tail, because there is no common consensus…lol. So who do I listen to? Myself! And my figurehead! He can’t be taken lightly!
So this is one of those things that you have to take a step back and give it some time. I think I need to do some deck planking and revisit the walls again later.![]()
The truth is, I will always do what “I” like. But I do consider everyone’s input. Especially if everyone is saying the same thing. But if the opinions are conflicting, then I have to go with my instinct. The simple answer to who do you listen to is - You and ONLY you (not the figurehead)! It is your model, you have an envision of things putting together, you are the shipwright to NL, you are the captain!
The darker shadow around the emblems look great!! And that lionNot being happy yet, I opted to use black around the emblems. I also created an enclosure to place under the deck opening for the grating, which I then painted black inside.
Now I can start deck planking…

I thought they looked ok before, but the Lion said…

And when your figurehead starts talking like that, you better listen!![]()
I actually like the darkened panels better as well. Like you say step back, and revisit it later (when the lion isn't so hungry)So I darkened the walls and painted the emblems with some gold and added some details in black…I may add a board at the bottom edge in between the column bases.

Not sure yet though because the Lion says…

Touch them again…I dare you!!!!
It is an INCREDIBLE sound David. You cannot believe how deep that sound is, especially in the still of night when the males decide they need some company. Within a few hundred meters, it literally makes the ground shake. The darker shadow around the emblems look great!! And that lionI've read that being in the African bush and hearing a lion roar is one of the most horrifying sounds one will ever hear.
Thanks Daniel, that's the plan! Get back to deck planking!I actually like the darkened panels better as well. Like you say step back, and revisit it later (when the lion isn't so hungry)![]()
Good eye!You added the bottom strips of course.![]()
I just spent the last half hour catching up with your entire build log so far Dean, and glad that I did. It is a top effort by all accounts, despite the disturbing amount of time you spent with the figureheadI planked the forecastle deck. Those who pay close attention will notice something different on the right side wall.

Thank you Mark, I appreciate it. Seems me and the figurehead will spend more time together in the near future, as I’m not finished with it.I just spent the last half hour catching up with your entire build log so far Dean, and glad that I did.
