Pavel Nikitin San Bartolome

Wow, thank you for the great explanation. I think I can follow your logical approach. I have to admit that I was a bit puzzled with that step. It will be a couple of days before I can get back to the build, to much other activity currently taking up my shipyard time.

Got some bench time in and started dyeing with Pavel’s dye kit. I think it’s a little too dark so I will sand a little more and lay some oak dye down. Hopefully it lighten up the color a bit.View attachment 382621View attachment 382620View attachment 382623View attachment 382624View attachment 382629View attachment 382630View attachment 382631View attachment 382632View attachment 382633View attachment 382634View attachment 382635View attachment 382636View attachment 382637

Fantastic! Is that airbrushed at first to define the recesses and give it depth. Love the tones.
Any tips would be appreciated.

I know I haven’t posted anything lately as it’s been extremely busy and some health issues set me back for sure. I do have some things to post. I just have to go and sort out all my pictures and make a post on my progress to date. I thought I would share this as it turned out to be, something very useful And very simple to do. I am at the stage where I am starting to drill all the holes for the treenails. The the slipway was very nicely designed so that it rotates on it axis. all I did was drill a simple hole clocked in several positions at the stern and bow and installed a Dowel which holds the ship in the position without fear of it spinning out of control.IMG_1001.jpegIMG_0999.jpegIMG_0998.jpegIMG_1003.jpeg

This is great documentation of a beautiful build. I know you encountered a few problems here and there, but what a fabulous kit!!

Hello ship modelers. I finally got done the fourcastle, railing and catheads. I think this by far was the hardest part of the ship so far. I really tried working on getting the railing posts to fit in the pre-cut railing squares without any gaps. This is as close as I can get it. It was also tricky filling the dead space under the catheads.IMG_0592.jpegIMG_0589.jpegIMG_0593.jpegIMG_0590.jpegIMG_0610.jpegIMG_0612.jpegIMG_0611.jpegIMG_0613.jpegIMG_0616.jpegIMG_0615.jpegIMG_0614.jpegIMG_0617.jpegIMG_0618.jpegIMG_0625.jpeg

Evening ship modelers . Worked on the quarter deck for the past couple of nights. And I can finally say one part of the ship is done. Construction wise that is. I still may mess around with dyes until I get the highlights the way I like. Trying to go for a pretty aged and weathered look.IMG_1088.jpeg
