It is by choice, but it is also something that the kit designer recommends I believe. It gives it depth and a place for grime to build for that weathered look. When I plank the hull I will not make it so pronounced. Overall I think it adds character to the ship.

Yes I agree the skeleton looks awesome. My wife says I should buy another one leave one un-planked and finish one. Maybe I should take her offer now before changes her mind. As far being good enough to plank over…..there is a lot of highs and lows on the frames. More than I would have expected. Especially as easy as it went together. Have a great day!
