Roter Löwe 1597 by Ondras71 - scala 1/60

Thank you very much Stephan and Uwek.

I soak cherry boards of size 3x10 for 10 minutes in boiling water. Then heat and soak repeatedly until the wood behaves like rubber. Then I place it in the template.
Yes Uwek. There are really no nails here. There is a wax-free strip on the upper Wales, where channels will be placed.
In lower wales there will be nails clamping deadeyes.

Rigging of these ships of the 16th century is not easy to do. I used for my 16th century Spanish Galeon the drawings from Herman Kirsch book galeonen an R.C. Anderson. It took me a half year to study and reading.
My greatest discover was that back in these days, the men on the ship didn't only use painting and decorations to decorate the ship. They also use the rigging. A lot of crowfeet on the ropes to impress. Even blocks where installed to lanyards or stay with a crowfoot like thing.

Dear Ondras. @Steef66 and I know just how tricky those railings on these Dutch ships are. You have given us a GREAT way of doing this. I will certainly follow that on my next build (now I just need to get all those wonderful Proxxon machines). And I am so relieved that you have started working on the Spiegel (mirror). You know how long ago I have already asked about that. ROTF

Thank you for like! Thumbs-Up

Here I found that Ab Hoving is preparing a virtual tour of his Pinas Vitsen. I will use the link with permission.ExplosionThumbs-Up

In another forum, Ab Hoving replied to the mooring on the railing in the following words:

"If there is one thing sure about the rigging of a ship, than it is that the ropes have to be belayed somewhere. In the case of your model I don't exactly know what the authors of the drawings had in mind, but as far as I am concerned you are free to mount pinrails in the sides anywhere you need them. If I am honest I must say that I have serious doubts about the pins in the railings athwarthships you placed your circle around. They seem very unlikely to me."

Of course, I was not pleased with the word, but I have to leave the pins in the railing of the aft deck on my side, there is no room for Pin Rail.
Building models according to plan or their historical accuracy is a dilemma that every builder must face. Fortunately, nowadays there are already enough quality plans..

I waxed the railing, covered the part where there would be other equipment..

There really isn't room for a Pin Rail on the aft deck on this plan..

I like your model very much and I support Ondras a lot. You are a top-class specialist. Greetings, Piotrek.

PS. It's good that you added this sixth photo, I will sleep more peacefully.;)

I now took the time to read the whole build report again from the start. This must be one of the most exquisitely detailed builds I have ever seen. There are so many lessons to be learnt from Ondras. This model is so perfect that I know what @Dali means. Each time Ondras moves onto something new, I hold my breath! :)
