I want to sincerely thank each one of you for helping me along the way to complete this huge project (at least for me it was). It was 5 1/2 years in the making.
I also want to say "thank you" very much for all the kind words. Even though, I think some of you are just trying to be nice !!!
I assure you all that there are many other great model ships built here and on other forums that I have to take my hat off to and stand in awe of. It is all of you that I have taken my encouragement from and being educated on what to do and what not to do.
I have been so busy at work that I have not been able to do any hobbies at home since around April 2014. I finally had a break during the Thanksgiving Holidays (USA Holiday) to enjoy some time off.
I know of several that are now taking on this model with MUCH more enthusiasm and MUCH more talent and ingeniousness than me to add extra touches that I just either did not have the foresight or the resources to go thru the extra as some of you have.
At any rate, I present all of my best modeling friends here on this forum my accomplishment to the extent that I can only say that I did my best with what I had. I must add that my heart goes out to the new coming modeler that is often filled with excitement and then dismayed when they realize that the instructions are most often very much lackluster.
If OcCre just so happens to read this, take note: Please take note of your rigging plates and please revise them and think about the modeler for one time.
I am not sure what my next project will be, but I am sure that I will bring it down a notch or two on difficulty.

Very nice clean build Donnie. The skills you had to learn were not easy, but I am sure you feel the results are well worth it and you would have it no other way. That is why the build makes a vessel you can be proud of and enjoy for years to come.
Hi Donnie, a truly magnificent build. At least once a week I go through, not only yours, but other build logs to keep my memory going on various tips and tricks.

Many members will not realize that you put others ahead of yourself in getting there build logs back online first.
I know from my personal experiences getting members build logs back online, they were always my main priority before mine.
I know of one build log I totally restored for a member and you know who I am talking about. He sent me 161 emails one night with a single photo in each email. He did that the only way he new how. Yes it was inefficient. but I am proud to say his build log is back online weeks ago.
I take my hat off to you Donnie. I know I have restored less than you have, but it has all been worthwhile. I hope more members will take a piece of this and restore there build logs and if they need help please contact us. I am prepared to help fix another build log if I can with access to the photos. This disaster has grown our friendships closer world wide.

As a new member and also new to modelling. I am doing the occre Santisima Trinidad like yours, but the original instructions from occre are not the best. I am now at the stage where I have the bullwarks on and I am about to start the planking (strakes) but the pictures in the instructions do not show the close up view of where the first sapele planks are attached (picture no 30 in the instructions) could you please send me a picture/diagram of the actual layout of these first 4 or 5 steps. I am using your superb model as my inspiration to build mine.
Somebody said the the di agostini plans were better than the occre ones, if so does anybody know how to obtain a set

If you go to this part of my other build log ( https://www.shipsofscale.com/Trinidad/STBL06.html ), you will see at this date ( October 24, 2009 ) where I end the Ramin and start the Sapelli. You will see that there are two Ramin strips right below the last row of cannons. I started my planking from the top outside bulwarks and worked my way down.
I think that OcCre did some changes to their kit as the Keel is in two pieces now. Also, ALL of the Belaying Pin arrangements were completely wrong as I had to completely re engineer the layout. All of this is shown in the Logs.
I think that if you look and study closely, you will see where the Sapelli starts. I hope this helps some.

I like all the pictures of the finished vessel. Well worth the 5+ years of building.
A realy impressive model of an impressive ship. Great rigging work, very realistic, f.e. Especially with showing the sails stored. It is looking very good.
