Steam pinnace Janet

Moxis,
Can you give me the position of the mounting screws of the boier of lempi?
I will buy the same boiler and want to put some wooden block under cabin floor for better resistance.I f you can tell me the metric of the screw I can glue with epoxy some nuts in the wood block
Many Thanks in advance
Daneil

Hello Daniel, sorry for a delayed reply but I have been out for a while and came back home today. The measurements are a bit tricky to take because there is not much space at the hull of Lempi, but the length is approximately 85 mm and width 75 mm. For the latter I had to use a paper strip method because there is no room to put any scale under the burner.

Thank you Daniel. Yes, sometimes the sequence of events is dictated by what we have available at the time - perfectly understandable.

Hello Again,
I did the walls of the first cabin from paper for better understandin the inner space.
It look right ( i lower it a bit after studiing the photos with humans on them)
I think I got the right proportion and after today I will redraw the cabin pieces for laser cutting
Kind Regards,Daniel20200719_130306.jpg20200719_130315.jpg20200719_130327.jpg

Hello All,
I wraped the hull in masking tape as adviced ( Thanks Nigel!)
Today I will put finishing rezin in the interior of the hull .
One question is what to do in the bow and stern where are big blocs of balsa wood.
Kind regards,Daniel20200726_084052.jpg20200726_121649.jpg20200726_121655.jpg20200726_122044.jpg

First attempt was succesful
I worked with Zpoxy out of apartment flat and in 35 Degrees celsiul in 15 min the rezin was hot and solidified
I prepared a new small batch to finish first coat
DO you think is needed a second coat or I let it that way?
Kind regards,Daniel20200726_190449.jpg20200726_201504.jpg

Hello all,
today I got the time to do some work at my ship so I taked down20200801_081121.jpg20200801_175831.jpg the masking tape , sanded the hull a bit and started to project the stern cabin.
Because will be a sofa all around the cabin I did the vertical part first
Nothing is glued Yet because still have to wait till the wood from bibigon arrives
The walls of the cabin are better to plank in horizontal than in vertical position.
The good part is I have ordered the microshapers from Artesania Latina for mouldings and will arrive at the same time with the wood I hope.
Kind Regards,Daniel

Morning All,
Just received the 2 set of microshapers from Artesania Latina,
The wood from Bibigon is still wandering in Russia And God knows when will reach me .
That why I will make the interior work ans the the cabins but will not glue them on model
Is easier to work on horizontal surface .
Kind Regards,Daniel

Hello Again
I have a question
How is best to mount the pulley with 6.35 mm interior diameter over 4 mm propeller shaft?
And also have to permit a new connection when I have the steam engine.
I think to use a brass tube of 6 mm exterior diameter and fill this with epoxy putty for connecting with trhe existing shaft.
Open to suggestions

Hello Daniel, I have understood that you have access to your father's lathe. If yes, you must turn a bush out of brass or aluminium with inner diameter 4 mm and outer 6,35 mm and glue that with epoxy into the 6,35 mm hole of the pulley. When the glue has set, you just open the threaded hole for the grub screw, and then you can mount the pulley on the propeller shaft.

Later on, when you have a steam engine, you can install that above the propeller shaft and connect them together with suitable gears or timing belt & pulleys which you already seem to have.

Hello Moxis
Long time no see!
I had a lot of work to do at the office and had to take the model life a little slow
And in a week I plan to go on vacation for 2 weeks
After, with new forces I will do the deks and superstructures.
Kind regards,Daniel
