Sussex 1693 navy board model

Hello everyone it's been awhile since my last update on the Sussex navy board model, I didn't work on it much throughout the summer but I'm happy to be back at it, well anyway I cut my angles on the fore and aft frames for the deadwood mortise and glued together I glued the apron or (false keel ) on and after completing the fore and aft sections I glued them to the midship frames in the Bruckshaw jig I then glued in the knight head timbers and then the hawes timbers, now I'm in the process of sanding and using the flexshaft machine , it's starting to take shape, I will have to say I don't think I'll do another like this one,the way it's built I mean, my next build will have separate frames mortised into the keel this is just a lot of sanding, don't get me wrong I don't mind sanding but this is a little to much, I could have carved it out of a solid block quicker, lol well I will keep you posted along the way.. thanks

Hello everyone, quick update on the Sussex navy board model, I have finally finished sanding the inside and outside of the hull, not to exact measurements but close, I then moved on to the keel pieces, I drilled and countersunk tiny holes for 5/8 long brass screws, I then glued and screwed to the ship, the book says to put expansion joints in for humidity reasons (so it won't Crack off ) I then drilled 1/8 holes at those locations for 1/8 threaded rod to surcure the ship to saddle, I am now in the process of drilling and filling out the gunports and mortised for the gunport sills, I will keep you posted along the way, thanks..

dear bird
you are doing wonderful work, great progress, no doubt that will came a beautiful model Exclamation-Mark Okay :)

Beautiful work...looks like you need a woodshop to mill all your own lumber huh? Resawing, jointing, planer, miters, ripping and crosscuts. Is Cherry the chosen standard?

Hello Philski here are a couple pics of my shop , this is my first scratch build and so far I love it, so I've been collecting tools along the way, I plan on scratch building for a long time, I resaw on the Rikon bandsaw and send through the Bynes thickness sander, I have a full size table saw in my garage, I just got the sherline mill , I will be getting a full size planner or thickness sander before my next build, that will have to go in the garage.. thanks

Nice shop. I converted my 3-car garage into my woodshop long before I took model ship building up. I build furniture, fishing nets, and other stuff. Its all fun. I haven't considered scratch building as yet. My next build may be plank on frame.IMG_1480.JPGIMG_1371.JPGDSC_2318.JPG_DSC0652.JPG

Very good workmanship
I am very happy to see your progress - and in the meantime a lot of progress
So please do not wait so long showing us the next work progress - also small steps are highly interesting

Hello everyone I'm finally getting started on the Sussex, started resawing the cherry, I'm going to try to keep you posted along the way, I can't believe my little bandsaw works pretty good, I have a 14 inch in the garage that I am setting up, but just goes to show what is possible with small tools, set them up right & take your time & anything is possible..... hope you all have a great day
Hallo @Bird
we wish you all the BEST and a HAPPY BIRTHDAY
