Yes, I too have experimented with the grid card method but could not get on with it. I prefer the 'clip' because it stops the outermost shrouds pulling inward under tension, but it's a matter of 'each to his own way.' Cheers. That is my preferred method of spacing ratlines, too. I see a lot of people use some sort of paper graph to space them, but I have trouble because the distance seems to change as my head changes perspective.
Good afternoon Graham. This is a good idea. I used the grid paper on my Victory and even with concerted effort the back and fore shroud pulled in ever so slightly . Hi Grant. It's just a couple of plank strips of the appropriate width with thin card glued across one end to form a hinge which saves on fiddling about when lining them up. The secret is in using very strong clips; small pegs don't cut it and bulldog clips are too heavy and bulky. I use sewing clips (you can get them on Amazon), but don't tell my wife! They are handy for a range of tasks due to their small size, but are strong enough to mark soft wood like balsa (see photo). If this happens (not that it matters on the strips I am using) simply sand off the small gripper 'bobbles' on the inner faces and round off the front edges of the jaws.Good afternoon Graham. Good morning Graham. I am renovating an old Bounty. This was a challenge from my Son , Justin, over a whiskey…..never a good idea. I’m keen to give a POF a go next which will be challenge in itself but I have to try one. Cheers GrantHave you started a new build yet?
Sounds good, keep us posted.

Wow!! I am glad that my log has been of help and I think that is what this site is all about. I am obviously giving too much away because your build looks almost as good as mine. Almost. (Joke!)Hello Graham - I must say your model is looking FANTASTIC!
I’ve been meaning to say thank you for some time as I have been following your build log since August 2020 when I started building the Mary Rose (my first ship build). So, thank you very much for all your guidance; I would have been stumped without you! A shot of the current state attached.
Thanks again - AndrewView attachment 483965
Hi Graham, I'm sorry, I noticed that there are blocks mounted in reverse I think you missed them when assembling.Sorry .FrankThe lines from the fighting platforms are rigged and ratlines added. That takes the clove hitch count to approx 1,860 and that's worth a cold one in anyone's book -

Some tidying up and resetting of the sails as everything got moved about a bit and she's now looking a bit better -

Next job is to add some shields around the rails of the fighting platforms, as per the Anthony Roll illustration. I think I need to do a mockup first to test a couple of ideas on how to do it.
This seems to be a popular theme with you on several build logs and you have ventured this opinion to me once before - post #265. But thank you for pointing it out. Again. Sorry. Well, not very nice response, Graham! One can easily make mistakes and if so, one can also accept the correction gratefully. Would Frank not have mentioned it, I would've done it probably myself. This error happens quite often and first of all with builders who don't know what they are doing, although I do not count you into that category. This seems to be a popular theme with you on several build logs and you have ventured this opinion to me once before - post #265. I have acknowledged his apology with a 'like'. I originally acknowledged my mistake with the blocks in post #266 and said I would live with it. Can we move on?Well, not very nice response, Graham!
