I absolutely love your videos!Hello fellow colleagues,
I'm Max, a relatively new member here. I've been mainly reading the posts so far, but today I wanted to share my current project with you all:
the Santa Maria model based on the Amati kit, Scale of 1/65.
I'm considering starting a detailed building log, where I can share my progress, seek your advice, and hear your comments.
I'm thrilled to share some snapshots of my Santa Maria building journey with you all. To kick things off, I started with the traditional Amati's kit, intending to make a few modifications along the way, such as replacing the keel, the stern lantern, gun carriages, and crows-nest, and some other minor things. My initial plan was to follow the kit instructions and assembly order.
However, fate had other plans for my project. As luck would have it, I stumbled upon Xsavier Pastor's book, and it opened my eyes to a whole new world. I discovered that the model proposed by the kit instructions would differ significantly from the available reconstructions, not just in minor details. At that point, I had already completed the hull, and a daring idea sparked within me.
I decided to embark on a journey of combining the Amati's hull with the insights gained from the reconstructions. It meant that, apart from the hull's base and planking, the entire model would be built from scratch. The prospect was both exhilarating and challenging, pushing my skills and craftsmanship to new heights.
I'm excited to share these snapshots with you, capturing moments of the building process.
Please feel free to share your thoughts, suggestions, or any insights you may have. Your support and expertise are invaluable as I navigate this challenging yet rewarding endeavor.

Hallo @AlanJI'm building the IBG 1/700 scale Royal Navy destroyers assigned to the Polish Navy in World War Two. So far the three Hunt class destroyers have been attempted. There are four models because I repeated ORP Krakowiak ( front and rear) after research showed some flaws in the model. I also added metal gun barrels, PE doors, brass mast and got a little more ambitious with the rigging.
Very good quality of the second planking - much much better than on the original VasaSergal Vasa, 2nd build. A bit over 1.5 years into the build. Feedback appreciated. View attachment 383663View attachment 383664View attachment 383665View attachment 383666
