YQ Bluenose by Johan [COMPLETED BUILD]

Hi Johan. The result on the pictures look surely good! And yes, it is a time consuming moment. But this waterways and bulwarks are essential for the upcoming planking of the deck and the hull. The ratio of 1:4 is a nice one. Not only for choose between the two, but 'looking double' makes the problem worse.ROTF
About the dark of light grey color of the waterways: it's depending on the color of your planking and the looks of the combination. But I am sure, you have done some test already.
Regards, Peter

The waterways also look very good to me - I don't see any untowards gaps. I do like the slightly darker grey colour of the waterways - that goes well with the natural (finished) wood color of the deck beams. On the subject of which bottle to pick up. When I restored the Bowman Steamboat, I had my usual mix of turpentine and Tung Oil in an old cup in close proximity to my coffee. Needless to say, the next moment I realized something is very wrong ... but only after I swallowed the mixture.
I guess you oiled your tongue! :p

Very, very nice Johan! I am always excited when I see this part of a build and as you say - only now will those lines truly come alive. I am intrigued by the organ in the background - I did not know that that was another hobby!
Playing the organ is indeed another pastime of mine, especially the baroque and romantic periods.
Nice catch!

Good morning Johan. Stunning. Lots of little rectangular cut outs made as well. She starts to take shape now for sure. I’m always “sad” when beautiful POF starts to get covered tho. Is some of the frames left open on your BN? Cheers Grant
Hey Grant,

The cuts were luckily prefabricated, wouldn't know how to pull that one off.
With respect to the POF aspect; the right hand side will remain uncovered, the picture below shows the completed planking of the right hand side.

Stay safe,

Johan

Today saw the completion of the planking on the starboard side; 5 equivalent rows of planks per YQ's instructions. The port side is also planked with the equivalent of 5 rows of planks.
On the starboard side I copied Peter Voogt's (@Peter Voogt) idea to locally extend the planking to accommodate a level mounting surface for the dead eye straps later on.

Starboard side, looking forward.
