ZHL San Felipe 1690 - Ted R

I went through all the instructions and no listing for the launch hull planking size.
Same goes for the pictograph planset.
I found some 1x3 mm but it doesn't seem to be enough for both boats. Also a bunch of .6x5 mm which seems too wide.
Part of the problem is my wife's OCD hit the build and she mixed all the planking stock from previous builds and some that was spent to with the stock from this build. Going through everything again to see what I missed.

I'm going to use some 1.75x 4.7 mm wood left over from My Harvey build. I think I have just enough to do both boats.
More importantly I can continue my build. Later on I may decide to redo the boats but who knows they aren't complete yet. They might be ok
 
I need to get my plank bender before proceeding on the boats.
Switched of to cannon carriages.
The sprue is left at the end of the carriage side. This creates a stress riser when removing the part that chips off a corner.
Figured anyway around it that is noisy.
Given my location now n a nursing home for rehab I hope I don't get into trouble.
Let me tell you this is an experience of a lifetime. Their are some seriously "different" people here.

I finished sanding the cannon carriIMG20251206074139.jpgIMG20251206074135.jpgages for the cannons with only two wheels and started my little bag full of the four wheel carriages. As for the rigging I'm going to do it like the Santissima Trinidad.
 
I just came across some ships boat kits in 1:48 by Pavel Knitikin. Nicely detailed and only $25 each. They are smaller than the boats provided by ZHL but tempting
 
The circular stairs have a wood wall surrounding the openings. The plans show this as being a sandwich of 0.5x2mm with 0.5 x3mm. The parts list doesn't indicate any wood of this thickness. In using 0.33 x 4mm and 1x3mm wood. I surrounded a spool of paper surgical tape with saran wrap and glued in the 0.33 layer first.17653442378962111863233682714501.jpg
 
Here's he second layer applied directly on top of the one shown above. I think this is going to be too fragile to be workable
On the next one I think I will apply some if the 0.33mm strips horizontally to give some reinforcement. It will still be only 1.1mm thick. Now I have to wait to see if this is going to workIMG20251210060912.jpg

Im probably the only member building a model from the bed of my nursing home. The management here says it is a first for them too. However, all the staff and fellow guests seem interested and no one is giving me any grief.
