NORSKE LOVE - Billing Boats 1:75 scale

That forward bulkhead and the door look stunning, beautifully crafted.Okay
The door looks as if it's composed of machined/printed parts; hats off!

So I’m taking the clamps off the wall on the bow, and gathering some boards to plank it, when I heard this sound!
“Pssst…hey!”
Who’s there I replied?
“It’s me…the king!”
Oh the Lion, I said?
“Of course, he says, you know any other kings?”
What do you want, I’m busy here.
“Well…you know I appreciate everything you’ve done for me.”
“Like improving my hair, giving me a snarl, giving me teeth, eyes, sharper claws, more cat like nose, etc., and that really nice crown…but…”
But what I replied, what now?
“Well, if I can be honest, and I feel like that’s the kind of relationship we have now…I think you should add the jewels to the band on my crown!” “You know they are supposed to be there!” “Thought maybe no one would notice you left them off huh?” “Got lazy did ya?”
Ok already, I replied, I will add them! After that you’re going back in your box, and I don’t want to hear another word from you until it’s time to go on the keel.
“Ok, it’s a deal!” “Thanks again, you’re the best!”
So I added them…

“Pssst…hey, you know a Lion has these small holes between his nose and mouth, where his whiskers are!”
“And you know I’m supposed to be holding an axe?” A really vicious one too!”

Get back in the box!!!! :p
Not just a king, or a lion king, but a nagging lion king with attitude as well ROTF

I finished the wall. Started on the door frames and doors. The figurehead and taff rails will be gold and the keel at the bow will be black. So a black and gold theme going on there. So I thought I would do the door frames and trim at the bow gold. Tried a pear wood door, but I don’t think it looks good. So I either have to do a dark stain on the doors or paint them black. Not sure a black door would be good either…sigh! Decisions! ;)

Ask the lion king, I'm sure he'll have an opinion ;)

So…I was going to work on the trim at the top of the wall. However I got creative…lol.

Still a lot of work to go on it, and it will be painted gold. Opinions requested…too much? Or is it what the doctor ordered? ;)
Try to improve your carving skills? haha. I think you're carving is great, perhaps it's a matter of taste and preference and it goes by the theme of the ship., but if you'll keep it on the ship, please don't paint it gold, but the same as the other wall carvings. medium oak?

Thank you!
I like that idea of stain…but I was planning to make the trim up top gold. But maybe that’s too much gold? So maybe I do the trim and carving the same color stain. Then the only gold is on the doors. More subtle. ;)

Just give it a go, if you don't like it, you can always cover it with gold paint. But sometimes, less is more so they say... ;)

You sure the Lion is asleep?
Beautiful job! I think this matches the era and type of ship your model represents. Maybe not historically correct, but hey, AL-FI rules.

Thank you Johan! I need to sand it thinner, and I may trim some of the leaves at the bottom so they are not so close to the doors. Not sure yet. It's a work in progress. ;)
