Ingermanland 1715 (2014) * Shi Cheng * 1:50 Scale

This morning I am happy to say that I have completed the planking of the first deck!!! :D
I DID IT!!! :p:D:p:D:p

There were times when it was a real pain in the rear, but I must admit, I enjoyed every minute of it. :D

So, here is my next question...
What works best for cleaning the deck?
I have s few areas that have pencil smudges and I'd like to clean them up before varnishing.
And would you suggest sanding the deck a bit? Maybe with 220 or 320 grit?

And what to do about the fwd bulkhead?

Give it a try ,how thick the planks are?
0.5 mm's. I just used a razor blade and it worked perfectly! And it even cleaned it up well, Zoltan. Thanks for the help!!!

Just don’t scrape it too much at 0.5 mm,,you could scrape away the planks,I used 1 mm thick

For the past week or so, I've been busy, but I was able to construct the upper and lower capstans, and one cannon carriage of each of the three sizes for Ingermanland. I still need to blacken the barrels and attaching hardware and add a little more color, but I'm pretty happy with them :)

Today, I am laying out the false bulwarks in order to figure out just how I will attach them to the ship. And although it seems to be straight forward, I'm a little worried about getting all of the bulwark cannon ports to line up with the cannon port frames from stem to stern.

Hi John,

Looks great, is there a lot of details provided in the kit for the gun carriages? You can add details by adding smal pins through the wheel shafts, add eye bolts and rings. add clamps for securing the gunbarrel etc. A lot of work however for the amount of gun carriages you have for this model but these kind of details will enrich your model greatly.

Thanks, Maarten! Yes, there are many details for the carriages, including pins for the wheel shafts and clamps for the barrels, but I would like to add the carriage through bolts; not sure if I'll do that for the main deck though...okay, I will. lol

So, this morning I began installing the false bulwarks. I't moving along nicely even though some items are not lining up just right. I'm pretty sure I can correct these small things when I begin to plank the hull. I'm thinking that the cannon ports are the most important areas to align correctly for now.
