La Renommée - French Frigate 1744 (1/48) - Based on Monographie from J. BOUDRIOT

Hallo Patrick,
how is the work on your Renommee going on ?
Hope you had a better start into the new year, than myself......

Hi Uwe !

First I wish you a very happy new year 2019 my friend !

"La Renommée" is stopped for the moment, I intend to resume in March normally.
Since Rochefort, I work on my other project, a Gribeauval gun. It's been a while since I thought about it and I intend to lead the two projects alternately so as not to tire ...

I hope you're okay ...

See you !

Patrick

@Péji Thank you for showing us such a lot of details. Your tecnique with the rabbet i have saved for later works.
Maybe here is a good idea for you. You can glue the paper on the wood perfect with Fixogum. Its fix very well during the work, but its removeable without any tools. And it doesnt makes waves in the paper, which is a problem with any kind of glue.

Hallo Patrick,

we all hope, that we can follow your work on the La Renommee and the other project you mentioned.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Uwe

Exceptional work Patrick!I have this monograph on the shelf, maybe one day when I have the tools to rip and plane large planks of Pear.Buying modelling sizes for this amount of timber would be astronomically expensive,

Kind Regards

Nigel

Hello gentlemen,

After a few months without activity on La Renommée, the building site will restart ...

Hard to get back to work. After the barrels, I will continue to the back. Two or three photos to locate :

Hello Patrick, the images are not shown.[/QUOTE]

Good evening gentlemen and ... thank you for your encouragement!

Finally, after a few tests, I tried the adventure and ... I won !!!!

I was satisfied with a simple little "first price" blowtorch, some paste and a little refractory stone, and here is the result :

The base is not fixed yet ... I'll see for the windows and the candle before. I even managed to close the ring by brazing it.

I think I understood how to braze, finally I made myself a "mountain" when in the end it is not very complicated. Even during my tests I did not manage to melt my pieces (others of course: I did not want to start all over again!)

To be continued ...

Good evening to you !

Patrick
