You are dealing with a hull of 1,25 m in length with should not be painted with a brush because it will leave traces in the coating despite your best efforts for an even coating.
What you have to avoid is to hold the airbrush still for a second.....ALWAYS move it hence and forth and up and down....

Just to assure those that are interested in this build, I am still alive. I haven't much to update because I am in the process of moving homes and have been busy with other home projects.
Rest assured, I will be back at some point, just don't know when.
So where I am so far is I have finished assembling the hull, I have applied two coats of primer, and now I have to work on filling in the gaps and making everything look smooth. I tried to patch these gaps before priming but I found that it was next to impossible to use the wood filler because it was drying up too quickly and it wasn't spreading properly. My assumption was that the raw wood itself was soaking up the moisture in the filler. So, I decided to apply two coats of primer to seal the wood, and then apply spackling to the entire hull. I have read people using spackling before so I figure that I would try too. Can't be worst than using the wood filler on raw wood...

And therein lies the challenge. Making a wood hull look like metal. I hope I didn't make a mistake in buying this instead of a plastic hull.

First, let me say that I am very interested in your build of this model of the Bismarck, and I will give you any support I can (if you want). I built this model myself a few years ago, and regrettably there is no build log with a lot of pictures.
I finished the hull with putty, sanding, putty, sanding......when I thought it was even enough, I treated it with a polishing disc. The next step was a coat of parquet lacquer which becomes very hard. Then again polishing, afterwards primer, and again polishing....then the hull was ready to be painted.
I you want, I take a few pictures (spontaneously through the acrylic glass of the display case.)

Not much to show in terms of pics. I am in the process of sanding off the excess spackling material. I will say that sealing the hull first then adding the spackling seems to have done the trick. The spackling didn't dry up and spread relatively well onto the hull.
So test successful.(self pat on my back) lol

Interesting build. I did the Revel plastic model when I was a kid. Couldn’t afford an air brush then or now. I’m loving your build.

It's been the subject of some debate but The turret tops being yellow is correct and has been confirmed in documents re the Bismarck. What shade of yellow is anybody's guess. cheers.
