Bluenose 1/72 POF [COMPLETED BUILD]

Finishing the main boom…stained it, made mast bands and installed hardware, and then painted it. Still have a few more pieces of hardware to add. After that, I can start the rigging for it.View attachment 252410View attachment 252409
It looks great. When you have the gaff to accompany it there will definitely be a lot of running rigging involved. Rich

Worked on some rigging of the main boom. I added the crutch tackle, topping lift, and the parrel line. Will probably add the quarter lifts and lazy jack lines next.
I used @Robertd method of putting some CA glue on the end of the rope ( and I twist it to make smaller in diameter). It makes it easier to pass through the blocks. I normally use a needle, but I like this method better. Thanks for the tip Robert!

Rigging of the main boom continues…added the quarter lift lines and the lazy jack lines, port and starboard.
Of course I have to make rope loops for all of the stanchion pins eventually.

Great progress and your fun and games will continue with the Main Gaff with it's own rigging. Will you be adding the Main Boom Tackles on the bottom of that? Lots of lines everywhere! Rich

Thanks Rich! I plan to add the gaff lines, and then the back stays for the main mast afterwards.
I chose not to add the main boom tackles that go underneath. At this point I’m trying to eliminate any rigging I don’t need.
So I will stick with boom and gaff rigging for the rest of the ship. That way, I think I can finish within the next 5 weeks before my sons birthday!
I still have to build two booms and two gaffs. So no boom tackles. Have to cut some corners. ;)

With your skill and progress I am sure that you will arrive at your destination for a great celebration dockage. Fair winds and skies along the way for you. Rich

Thank you Rich, I appreciate that! I hope to be among the few who actually finish building this ship! I have others awaiting me. :p

I have been using the CA glue "needle" for a few years and don't recall where I first picked it up on SoS. It works on every diameter of line or thread that I have need to "thread the eye" of blocks. After twisting the line and the CA is set I trim it at an angle creating a more precise pointed end to the glued needle. I had assumed that all of the SoS crew were doing this. Occasionally I will also slightly enlarge the block holes when I am fairing them into a radiused entry and exiting fall. Glad that this works for you also. Rich
