BLUENOSE by PIERO

Thanks Peter! Is this photo related to the first BN, or to those built later (BN II)? I see some differences between this pic and the one we are building ...
Her a still for this video about the BN-II:

Good evening everyone!

With a little patience, I was able to finish a fair part of the deck details.

In particular, the construction of the two lifeboats took a long time, mainly due to the delicacy of the small pieces and the wood used for the bulwarks.

In the end, however, I succeeded!

Now let's go back to my Swiss home to continue the hard work on the beloved BN...

The parts looks nice, Piero. Especially the white accent on the darker parts.
And the fishing dories looks fine.
Regards, Peter

Ops! One more thing: I've doubts about the color of the main cabin because I saw that someone painted the walls in white, while others left it exposed wood giving only oil. From the old photos available on the web I can't figure out what the real thing could be .....
This is what I found a while ago. It is stated to be the Bluenose I colors.

G'day everyone!

This morning I started installing the various beams under the deck.

I started with the bow and I came up with a little system to align the various beams to size: I drew exactly the centerline on the beams themselves, then I pulled a thread between the two extreme points of the filling then fixed with two nails.

At this point I placed the references on the beams exactly under the wire.

Following Peter's procedure, I placed some separating baffles to position the stones for the simulation of the bulb (without sailing dinghy).

For the stones I will use real sand from the Liguria Region which has small pebbles that can effectively simulate heavy stones.

Hello Piero, mast'ascia system, Congratulations

Here are the stones, properly selected, put in their place! Now I wait for Peter, or whoever for him, to advise me on how to "block them"....

Hello Piero

Marking your centerline; great idea. I'll adopt your method for both upper- and lower deck floorbeams on my Bluenose.
On your ballast rock; to me the ballast appear to be a little off-scale, or is it that I can't properly judge it's size from a picture?
As for how to keep the ballast in place, I think Peter mentioned this in his build log, see post #557.

Enjoy!

Johan

Hi Johan,
it is a pleasure to be able to exchange ideas and advice for each other!

You are completely right about the off-scale ballast! In fact, I have replaced the stones that are too large with others a little more in scale ...
