Hello Herman. I love your knechten, your stairs and your accessories. It is a good idea to keep it separate - I do the same, not because I have a dog, but because I would not have a clue where I put them. :)

After my clash with the circular saw, making small wooden strips, I was reluctant to use that machine for that purpose again. Stephan @Steef66 and Don @donfarr suggested to use a bandsaw. I have followed their advice and bought me a Proxxon bandsaw (and secondhand Proxxon thicknesser). Good advice for which I am grateful.
Resawing wood is much safer in my opinion, for me in any case! I have in the meantime made some maple planks for the deck.

I am now preparing to plank the deck.

I will start making the binding strakes (hope the term is correct) with slots for the gratings. I am not familiar with making technical drawings so I started with a simple excel sheet to get the slots on paper, later to be glued to the wood to saw the slots into the strakes and planking.

I glued 2 strips together as the slots for the grating-beams will be twice as deep as the slots for the grating-planks. I connected two of them as they will be opposite of each other on both sides of the gratings. I then glued my drawing for the slots onto them and made the slots with the circular saw provided with a sled.

And after some tweaking / cleaning up :

Thank you Stephan and Maarten.
I am happy too to be building again. I finally made the way back after the reorganization at my job and being misdiagnosed by my family doctor. The job has lost some of its joy after the reorganization. We had to say goodbye to some laid off colleagues/friends but we are managing again. The health issue has given me more than ample power to relativize, so less stress on the job.
Still 50 months to go until retirement (but who's counting?). I have found a nice way to make every month on the job more rewarding. I have decided for every month I stay on the job I will buy me a book on ship modeling:). I have already made a list of over 20 titles, so the next 2 years are already covered:cool:.

And now making the parts fit together.

I think I will make the slotted planks on the deck beams after the binding strakes and deck beams are finally placed/glued on the model. Not sure yet, maybe I will glue all parts together, make the gratings, and then place it all on the model.

Thank you all for visiting, your kind words and your appreciation Thumbsup.
