HMAV BOUNTY - A “face lift “

…… I stole some of Justin’s throttle grip wire (0.4mm) from his motocross tool box ROTF. Hey he won’t let me buy anything so it feels like sweet revenge.

I think those things are called "bollards".

“Bollards” - That’s the word I use when someone takes things out of my tool box too ROTF.

Good morning Peter. Thank you kindly. I amazed myself ROTF . It has almost been more fun working out how to make the wood than building the ship…..

Good morning Johan. The dead eyes are easy- I just 3D designed and printed them. As these will be black I just paint them.

The blocks and ropes I have the kit version from the Victory and Xebec. They are typical kit ropes and blocks. Hmmmm??

I also have some supplies of the “good stuff” from Dry dock Models however I’m not sure the scale will work on my Bounty. Definitely short supply tho.

Last resort will be to eat humble pie and concede and buy some more of the good stuff:rolleyes:
Cheers Grant
Great restoration Grant
If you don't mind printing blocks from resin here you have a set just to adjust

A good start of ‘the rigging proces’ with nice tiny iron work, Grant. And ……. The wires is not stolen ……. He forced you ….. ;)
Regards, Peter
Good morning Peter. Thanks. I have struggle with the tiny hooks and blocks. I think I should have used 2.5mm blocks but don't have any. As for those hooks, I just made them as small as I could and look more like wire bent into a "S" than hooks. Looks OK tho, unless you view under a microscope. :D.
Roger that.
Roger and roger. Thankfully only 4 cannons on the Bounty:)
Grant,
I just went back to where you started on this project and must say, marvelous work! A project not many could pull off as you have. (Or had the nerve to attempt)
Good morning Ron. Thank you for the compliment and having a look at my renovation. In many situations my ambition has exceeded my talent, however I then just go for more of a representation than an actual replication. Been super fun tho.....and it continues.
... quickly raised - does not considered fallen ROTF Great job (as always), rigging is not my favorite, dito!
Good morning Jim. Thanks for the compliment. Yep canon rigging.......enough said ROTFROTF

In the running for funniest post of 2024. Good luck Roger.
Good morning Roger. Im with Paul......Brilliant wit....so funny. ROTF ROTF Although I have a feeling Justin may use a stronger term when he next looks for his grip wire;
Great restoration Grant

Thank you very much indeed. This is so cool. I generally only attempt to print metal parts if needed, however I may not get my leftover kit blocks looking good so this is an awesome alternative.

Cheers
Grant

A very good afternoon.
I thought I had better post just to show I am playing in my shipyard. I have nothing finished so deviating from my “show and tell” log - I must have “SOSADS” SOS Attention disorder syndrome “ Speechless.

The starboard channels : I lost one of the old kit chain plates.- where is my swear barrel?? I will have make one I guess.

Mast tops:
I was going to clean up and modify the old ones however these just won’t work- they are also too thick 4mm vs 3mm and for some reason very noticeable. Too much so for Grants “near enough to scale “ approach with this face lift. So made some 2mm x3mm laminated walnut for base, cut scrap solid pieces to 1.6mm for “those strips” (sorry don’t know what they are called). Ok they are not really 1.6mm…the scraps are too small to fit in my mini table saw and I struggled to keep them in place when trimming- they sort of range 1.8 to 1.4mm. Eish . No redos on this build…5ED1295F-77D5-4B7C-A565-AF293F9DB870.jpeg

Plenty shaping and detailing still to do.

……and the RICOCHET RABBIT award goes to…...
Remember guys, life needs fun, it’s plenty serious and way too short……so build model shipsROTF

Stunning work Grant.
Back in my RC aircraft days some guys would rebuild after unintentional landings. I was never one to rebuild. I would 'dispose' of mine.
You're setting the bar pretty high for restoring.

Nice details on the rope work of the canons and on the iron work on the pumps, Grant. It’s ‘Bounty worthy’.
Regards, Peter
Looking really good over all Grant. The belaying pins and the blocks on the guns with frapped lines look especially nice.
Allan
Lovely work, Grant. The cannon rigging is very tidy - and you know I like tidy...

Grant,
awesome pumps - super detailed indeed Thumbs-Up- cannon rigging has also always been your forté ---

Regards,
Good morning Gentlemen. Thank you kindly for your comments. It is always a source of encouragement and valued indeed.

Only 2 more cannons to rig, and May take a while as rigging cannons is always on my “procrastination list”.
Cheers Grant

Your fine work continues Grant. I really like the look and how you rigged the cannons. Securing the tackle the way you show in your photos is, to me, a more realistic and practical approach than little coils deployed on deck.

Good afternoon Roger. Thank you. I agree however in my case it is more of - I’m not very good at making coils and this is the lazy option. How are your stunning carronades coming on? Cheers Grant
