I am a few weeks behind everyone else on this build, so I have been going thru all of the plans to familiarize myself. I printed all of the frame sheets out along with the instructions and BOM. It is my hope that I don't get booted from this group build with the questions I have here
I am going to build the 1:32 scale version and printed out the build-board plans so that I could affix them to some plywood and cut them. But as I do with most projects, I first went thru and checked the plans with each other for consistency and accuracy. I printed everything on ledger paper (11 x 17) and found that they printed to scale. With the exception of the Blandford-Keel detail sheet (the sheet that has the isometric drawing of the keel end). The keel profile and plan are out of scale and in fact are larger than 1:32 scale. This sheet is important because it is the only one so far that illustrates the upward shift in the Keel notch.
As a result of my plan check I have several questions about the plans and I have looked thru the support page to see if they have been addressed previously, but did not see that they were.
FRAME PLANS (1:32 Scale Only)
1) Is the water line the same as the top surface of the build-board? And if so---the frame sheets measure the water line at 4-3/16", but the build-board plans measure it at 4-1/4". Which is correct?
KEEL DIMENSIONS (1:32 Scale Only)
2) Is the keel height including the false keel 9/16" or the keel without the false keel 9/16"? The plans (Build-board plans and Frame Sheets) when measured show the total height of keel and false keel as 9/16". The BOM shows the height of the keel as 9/16" and the false keel as 3/32". If you use the dimensions that are on the BOM, the total height would be 21/32" ? I need that clarified.
3) Is the length of the keel 8" as indicated on the BOM or is that just a rough length. As I read the Build-board plans, it appears that the keel, if finished flush with the aft face of frame #9 and the forward face of frame #1, it would be 7-3/4". Should I just cut the keel to the 8" length and trim it after the frames are all installed?
SPREADER BAR (1:32 Scale Only)
4) Is the notch at the top/center surface of each of the spreader bars important? And if so should I take care to insure that the notches all line up with each other at the centerline?
Sorry for the questions, but I was a draftsman in my younger days and I haven't shaken my routine when it comes to plan checking. I hope that I am not over-thinking this
