HMS GRANADO - full hull - POF kit by CAF in 1:48 - by Uwe

I can not fully agree with the length of the pins as shown on the drawing. The the rudder can never be lifted of:

The space below the pin must be at least the hight of the lower part of the hing.
Or I must be totally wrong .........
With the lengt of Uwe's parts it is probably just possible. Otherwise the open part must be longer.

it shows that the lower two pintles are a bit longer than the two top ones, It is interesting to see, that the middle pintle is longer than the two top ones but shorter than the two lower ones, unless it is just an optical illusion.

For what it's worth...Antscherl (writing about swan class ships) says that the straps were 3 inches wide and the pintles were 9 inches long except for the lowest pintle which was 11 inches long (and the recess for the lowest pintle was likewise taller).

And the pins are beveled at the end to the shape of the bottom of the recess. 'Parallel sliding'. It's all in the details!
PS: Beautiful drawings! The more you look at them, the more you see.

Very interesting guys, I can only learn from you.

@Uwek Uwe, very nice work on the rudder, the irons supplied in the kit are very sensitive, in the Le Coureur kit I broke 2 when I tried to adjust them. I also started working on the rudder yesterday, let's see how many attempts I need to get a halfway decent result.
