Took off all the plates and painted the copper section of the hull with copper paint. Hopefully it will conceal any minute gaps in the plates.

Well, that's one way to do it. You may find that you now have more adhesion problems than you did before. Before you commit to the hull, might I suggest a test by prepping a piece of scrap the same way you did your hull and spraying it also. Make sure it has had plenty of time to dry. Then try gluing some extra plates to it and see how they hold.

They seem to be holding better. I'm using more glue and got out a new bottle of CA.

I've got the first row on for the third time.
This is the best iteration. I don't know why I find it so nerve racking. After I get the first two rows done it seems to be less so. I

Ted, Just my opinion if you are going to have 3 rows on your "belt"I would not do the 3rd row until the rest of the hull has its plates in place. This would make it easier to trim and overlap the belt rows with the other rows and perhaps make things easier and neater.

Here is the fire portion of the copper plates.
A little raggedy but I'm already afraid I don't have enough to finish the second side and my kit manufacturer doesn't respond to any attempts to contact them.
I have four little sections to do ai the stern and will be able to count out if I have enough plates. This light angle really shows the roughness vs the last oho with normal lighting

I'm 175 pieces short on the copper plates including the bottom of the keel and rudder with no spares.
They are 5.65 x 18.5mm (.223" x .730").
Manufacturer us Caldercraft or Jokita.
If someone has some of these I'm in the market.

I finally found a phone number for the Caldercraft rep here in America.
Of course they don't sell the copper plates. He recommended Model Ship ways. Way too expensive. $18 plus tax and shipping for 50 plates.
Researching alternatives

I found nearly matching copper plates at Drydock Models.

They almost always have what I need at a fair price and ship promptly.

I've started working the Crosstrees.
Nite on the plans and walnut sheet the drawings show part 75 fitting into part 74.
In reality part 74 was made about 50 percent too big for part 75 to fit.

I checked it. The problem is part 74 should be no longer than part 73 but was laser cut about 50 percent too long.
I've started making correct sized replacements.

Found the parts at Drydock Models.
They seem to have what I need and at a fair price. Their quality is top notch

I've been trying to make new part 74 in the correct length. So far I've made a few buy wasn't satisfied with the quality.
It just occurred to me to cut down the too wide parts.
In the photos-
Top is provided part 74
Middle is my latest, in process,attempt to make one.
Bottom is correct width for part 74.
