HMS Vanguard 1787 1:72 a Victory Models kit

Beautiful job on her !
Thanks Jeff for your kind assessment. I am happy mostly with how things turned out, but still need to find a solution for stable mounting.

I recently found this build and I agree with all that you did a fantastic job on a massive scale. One suggestion I would think would work well in this size of a case ( especially with no sails and the green base board) is using a dry dock slip. See example below. A little more work but would benefit and support that massive hull.View attachment 529380
Thanks RW this is a fine idea. I will look into what I might be able to do. It will require some scratch skills, which I do not have an abundance of.

Good afternoon. Wow, Bravo !!! I totally agree with the no sails look as your rigging is brilliant and detailed and we would not want sails hiding this. Your display case is beautiful (makes me envious compared to the one I hacked out for my Victory ROTF ) and I agree with Paul re the pedestals. A stunning model well done. Cheers Grant

Thanks Grant your words are always kind and soothing. I saw your victory case and it is worthy. These models are large and encasing them with only 35mm clearances requires a large structure. My corners are 30mm squared and 940mm long made from solid hardwood and everything still creaks and twists on moving.

Stunning! What a beautiful model and a perfect way to display her. You have much to be proud of. Well done!

Finally completed the cradle support and nameplate.

The Vanguard is now in its forever home.

I am closing this thread and will not post any further updates.

Thank you all for your interest, comments and suggestions. It has been a joy throughout.

I will start another project soon and create a new build thread when I do

You made a very nice model with impressive rigging, Michael. And a display case gives such a model always some extra glamour. Chapeau!
Regards, Peter

I have two comments on your build.
1: good: the way you are using the fillers
2: Bad: Please do NOT insert the decks before the Hull is finished. You will remember my words, when you will have to insert Gunport, gun, riggen the guns, as many will be below deck, with other running Riggen
