HMS Victory Build #776 1:98 scale

Well didn’t follow my golden rule measure twice cut once I was in a rush and I tried to get the cannon carriage openings Correct but I miss calculated by 4 mm so the 60 openings on the lower two rules need to be modified I’m glad I caught it now because this is the first base layer of planking and the final finish layer is going to go on after this I just didn’t feel they were right before And I went back to the plans and checked it over the last couple days and I was off by 4 mm on the Cannon ports. Well that’ll be my next been work for a couple days on this

Well finished installing filler pieces on all gunports.
Took a while but it’ll be ok. Going to cutout all at correct locations starting tomorrow night. My guess is 2 days as I only do this when I’ve got spare time from my bathroom remodel.

Well finally finished with gunports on 2 lower levels
All fixed and made a jig to drill holes for cannons
They now look in correct locations.
Previous holes were plugged with round toothpicks I had some from before and was surprised they were exact fit. Just cut and glued in place. Next step will be to cut hole holes on next level and finish inside of that decking walls and frame out openings.

Well I’ve not done a lot on model, been working on my master bathroom remodel. Took a few days off and worked on model. Planked lower deck walls and added stag horns to that area. Shellacked planking and stag horns and will varnish either tomorrow or Saturday. I’m anxious to get back to model but better half needs master bath complete 1st.

Well had a break tonight so I installed posts to support skid beams and added cannon balls to racks.
Next I’ll determine the distance cannon will protrude out from hull and then glue done cannon carriages
and install cannon carriage rigging.

I got my set here. The same brand as the kit and sold exactly for this Victory kit.

Cheers

Well call me captain destructo. I’m doing mods to lower decking right now. Tried to install cannon carriages on this level along with block and tackle. Hmmmmm good luck with that. No room. And Upon further examination I discovered the carriages wouldn’t fit. Too big not to scale at all so I made my own to scale and they fit nicely. See pics below. Wasn’t happy with the looks of inside planking also so I removed and trimmed off the rib framing to make everything much nicer and easier for installation. I examined my previous semi complete model and that’s what I did there also. Got a little more work with making elevating blocks for them. I am also making making block assemblies but instead of using rope I’m using thin copper wire and will make black later. Wire is so Much easier to work with.

a big difference and much much better carriages - well done!

We’ll finally I’ve started back at model. Added inside planking, and added all cannon carriages to this lower deck. Next item will be roped for carriages and then I can close this level up and start on next deck level
