Hello Jack. I considered getting some better Lanterns, however my Victory has many of the Mantua nuances (for a better word). I did my main mast Lantern with the Mantua ones and at that point “I crossed the Rubicon” and have to stay with these. I am not unhappy with them, they just not very authentic. Cheers GrantHi Grant , Don't know if the cost to SA would be prohibitive but these lamps look realistic and are easy fitted. https://vanguardmodels.co.uk/product-category/fittings/page/2/ 'Victory' looks better every time I look at it. Super. Cheers JJ.
Good morning, Grant. For me, the lanterns looks very nice, with all those details.
And with every new added lines, I see on your pictures more and more that I missed before. So much too see on your well focussed pictures!Good evening. The final buntline on the spritsail yard was rigged. I find it unusual that the top gallant yards do not have buntlines. I have looked everywhere and it would appear this is so. I’m not sure I understand this considering the function of these lines.
Anyway some pics.

Good morning Vic. Agreed that is what Buntlines do. These are also used to fuel the sails. I decided to include mine even tho no sails are on. Grants Victory will have clewlines, tacks and sheets as well. On the model examples I am looking at (also no sails) to create Grants Victory they don’t have buntlines on the topgallant mast, which considering the definition you sent seems incorrect? Anyway I will just leave these off. Cheers GrantThis from Wikipedia:
Buntlines lift the middle portion of the sail; there will usually be four to eight buntlines across the foot of the sail. Traditionally they are secured to the sail with buntline hitches.[1] Since buntlines only have to lift a section of canvas, they can be thinner than the clewlines and are not usually fitted with a purchase. A typical arrangement for the buntlines has them running through deadeyes on the yard, upwards to a block fixed to the shrouds a little higher up the mast, and then downwards against the inside of the ratlines to the deck. This provides a good lead but does create a minor obstacle to sailors moving out along the yards.
Buntlines are, necessarily, attached to the sails. If you don't have sails, no need for buntlines and clew lines.
Good morning Heinrich. Thanks. I kinda like them too. Cheers GrantI LOVE the look of those lanterns! I wouldn't change them for anything, if they are "incorrect". The fit the model perfectly and even the color just looks right!
Good morning Dean. Thanks. Re the Cazador. That’s exactly what I wanted…. A fun ship. I cannot find any Drawings or history on the Spanish Jabeque Cazador other than what the kit provides. Plenty on the French Le Requin and Arabian Xebecs. Funnily Spanish shipwrights had plenty of influence in the design and build of the Le Requin…or so I am told. Cheers GrantHi Grant,
Catching up your build…and I just love how she is taking shape! Great execution on the rigging!
Keep up the good work!
Ps - the Cazador Xebec is a fun ship. Definitely less rigging, but a different type of rigging.
Good morning Peter. Thanks. I sometimes just play a little. Add some more hanks, and little detail here and there. I do need to pause sometime and clean up. She need many things trimed(netting) and paint here and there. Mainly those things I notice…no redo’s tho. Cheers GrantGood morning, Grant. For me, the lanterns looks very nice, with all those details.
