HMS Victory Mantua 1:78 (first build) by Grant Tyler

Hi Grant. Also from me on almost the same meridian: get well soon.
And about the vote: the Cazador. Because she is different from what you usually see in square rigged ships.
Regards, Peter
Good evening Peter- Thanks you. Cazador does look more fun to build- Pter is setting a standard on this ship- truely incredible work. Cheers Grant

If this is the Cazador you're after: hands down the winner.

If, on the other hand, this is the Cazador in question no preference from me.View attachment 317305
If you guys have not seen @Ptèr ‘s Cazador, check it out. Brilliant. I do believe his build (not that I would be able to do one so well) has made my decision for me. Now to find out what blocks and rope sizes and colors etc are on her for me to include in my order. Cheers Grant

Good morning- Back to the Victory. Felt like a human yesterday afternoon so trotted off the shipyard to finish and seat the main mast.

I have rigged all I could (maybe more to come still- inexperience and guess work on the go here). I did enjoy rigging as much as I could off the mast. Did not fight with her once:D:D.

The blocks, shrouds (lower and top), and stays are all rigged. Tied up with masking tape according to category.

I rigged the forestays from the Mizzen. These are attach by a pendant and lashing system (no block and tackle). See picture below Blue arrow. I have not tensioned these as I will tension the Mizzen back stays, Main back stays, main shrouds and main stay and preventor all at the same time

The red arrow shows Grants cheat. The lower tie of the pendant has to loop around the two tressel trees. Thus:

With my mods to the Mantua mast I had no space to do this so I looped it around a eye on the cross tree deck. “Grants Victory ROTF).

The seating alignment of mast with a 1 degree rear (close enough;)) slant Was easy as the slots in the deck were almost perfect.

PS excuse the surf board etc in my man cave- I was too lazy to transport her to the dining room for pics.

Cheers Grant

Good afternoon. My ship building has been on hold for a few days a few more to go.... getting withdrawals ROTFROTFROTF Nothing exciting either had to have a tumor cut out my saliva gland by my jaw. Home now but still out of action.

I need to get more thread and with the cost of shipping etc to SA, I am going to order rope and blocks for next ship all at once.

I have a 850mm x 650mm spot in my pub for this ship and am undecided between the Endurance or the Xebec Cazador??? What do you guys think.

Cheers Grant
Hi Grant hope you recovering well best wishes

Good evening. Thanks. Yes all going well. Had the blood drainage pipe removed today and biopsy results all good. Not much of the saliva gland was removed so I’m pretty much A for awayThumbsup. Will have a nice scar down my jaw line but adds character. :DCheers Grant
