HMS Victory Mantua 1:78 (first build) by Grant Tyler

Good morning. They are a mission. I can’t give too much advice, however some methods which helped me:
- prepare a stencil with the correct gap between each line and these lines must be parallel to the waterline.
- when you do the clove hitches make sure each one is tight. You have to be careful here not to make the longitudinal tension too tight(changes shape of shrouds) or too loose as they just don’t look nice.
- if you have good thread it helps massively. I’m using kit thread and while came out good it does fluff.
- otherwise I just take my time. Do like 6 and then do something else. More due “I have had enough already.” Paul @dockattner has really good posts on his log re ratlines. His are super good too. Good luck and keep going
Cheers Grant
Your input is very much appreciated and I take note. I will try to find Paul's post regarding Ratlines as I'm sure it will be informative with shades of humour written in, (Can't live without humour, cycling & Music) Most times I have issues keeping up with and reading all the posts in SOS. To be honest, I get lost regularly when manouvering around the site trying to keep up with all the good, outstanding work by members. Arthritic fingers can be a minor problem as is aging eyesite BUT! as we sang in the 60's 'we shall overcome'. and those ratlines will be done :) - Thank you and best of for the 2nd test.

Wow, a lot of little knots in that rigging. It looks superbExclamation-Mark
Good evening Jan. Thank you very much. There are a plenty, thanks more to Sasha as he gave me good advice as to the gaps between each ratline. 75% more than the Mantua plans....rope supplies are running thin againRedface. I must say tho, while being more authentic it gives the ratlines a far better look aesthetically. Cheers Grant

Good evening. A sad day for us yesterday. The “boks” blew it the last 9 mins to give the All Blacks a well deserved victory. 1-1 so far. Now we visit the “land of the long white cloud” in a few weeks. Lets see:)
Ah a brief rugby mention commiserations Grant, a very different game to the first one, I had a sneak peak at the final score before deciding whether to watch the replay the next day but the sideshow is who will be the AB coach for the next match.
And the Wallabies were thumped as well so Pumas now top the ladder, what a great start to the comp.

It wasn't a comprehensive victory over the SA team but certainly a very intensive game. Never discount the All Blacks especially when they're down the gurgular. Ritchie is 100% correct all the news here is about hanging or keeping the coach. Starting to read like a comedy show. Pumas top, Aussies crying - Excellent way to have a competition Almost as exciting as doing Ratlines and attaching Boltropes. Life is Beautiful :)
