Fascinating and very informative Grant and everyone
Good morning Daniel. Thank you for shared these with me. I will certainly have a look. Cheers GrantGreat research
Here still some practical hints for the modelmaking:

Good morning Heinrich. Thanks. .....you know us Saf’ers if is not good, we will always make a plan to make it so. Cheers GrantI love that "it is going to work out just fine" attitude Grant!
Grant maybe if you try rolling (hammocks) but make them twice the length you have them. Then bend them over like into a U shape> That should get rid of the 'hole at the top' I say this having no idea where hammocks were stored during the age of sail so take this as an uneducated suggestion. Cheers.Good morning. Hammocks. I relaid my hammocks vertically as the guys have shown me to be correct. Not neatly I just wanted to see if it will work.

I now know I can get these to work, just have to find a way to remake these without the round hole on top showing and will have to be nearer. There is no time limit on this build so I will look at other models and see what I can do.
I still think horizontal looks better but let’s get this correct.
Cheers Grant
Good morning. I have seen some models with them like this and it will solve the problem for sure. However this not correct as Vladimir point out to me. I am going to try and get these right, I don’t know why - it’s like a little challenge for me. I am going to give the canvas cover effect a go. It maybe easier and I won’t have to make 400 odd hammocks. Going to play a little and see. Cheers GrantGrant maybe if you try rolling (hammocks) but make them twice the length you have them. They look very straight and sleek, Grant. I keep them in mind by doing mine. Also with your shrouds around the masts.Good morning. Not much to show busy finishing the ratlines. I did have a break from these and prepared the channels with the extra dead eyes and rings for the many back and breast stays on the Victory.

I have run out of 5mm dead eyes - I run out of everything with this ship.. The 3 rings at the aft of the channel are a bit cramped. I don’t think the Mantua kit is 100% accurate to scale on quite a few things- as I have found out previously. Non the less it is going to work just fine. Cheers Grant
Wow! What a milestone Grant! I agree with Daniel - that deserves a cold one!Good morning. This morning I tied my last clove hitch on the ratlines.
Here are the number of clove hitches
Mizzen mast - 624
Main mast - 1482
Fore mast - 1186
Total clove hitches - 3292.
I finally finished off the futtock shrouds being the last :

Than you Daniel and Heinrich @Heinrich. Agreed a couple of beers and a some Karoo lambs chops on the braai this evening for sure. Cheers GrantGreat job Grant!![]()
Thanks Paul. Hopefully no Viking funeral coming. Seriously tho it does work. I did not realize how much the kit rope, which I used for my shrouds and ratlines fuzzed. Cheers GrantBrilliant Grant! Not so sure I like the idea of burning off fuzz though. Viking funeral...

Good evening Ron. Thank you. I think you are the clever one here RonBurning off the fuzz? Keep the torch on low my friend as we don’t want Paul’s Viking ship to be a Victory.
All kidding aside, kudos to you Paul, Daniel and all the other great builders of these magnificent vessels. SeeIng what is involved in the massive rigging of these ships is why I choose only one or two masted schooners for my builds![]()
Good evening Jeff. Thank you much appreciated. Cheers GrantFantastic looking!
Fantastic achievement Grant. This end result most certainly deserves several 'Carling Black Label' and some serious internal contemplation during a celebratory Braai for a "Grant made Rope Walk"Good morning. This morning I tied my last clove hitch on the ratlines.

Just looking at all the rigging made me dizzy, what an outstanding job...Good afternoon. I spent some time (putting it mildly) on the Bowsprit rigging. There is so much I am not going to take you through each line and function.
My redo changes:
- 2 Sliding collars ( Travelling rings) - per picture in above post
- 2 triple pendant collars
- 24 3mm blocks
- 2 pendants for sliding collar tension rope
With these in place the forestays are all now functioning rather than tied to bowsprit per (Mantua plans) The stays to bowsprit:
1. Main forestay
2. Preventer Main forestay
3. Top mast stay
4. Top mast preventer stay
5. Top gallant stay
6. Top gallant flag staff stay
Just some pictures- still loads to do and tie off.

Carefully, burn and fluff in one sentence, that spells M.U.R.P.H.Y.All I have to do is carefully burn off the fluff.
