Hohenzollernmodell 1660-1670 Scale 1/75 POF build by Stephan Kertész (Steef66)

The promised video

I'm not a star in making pictures or video's. When somebody have an idea why the licht is waving in the video is welcome with advice. I self had the idea of under light but why it is waving because of that?
Edit problem solved, a defect led bulb was the cause, changed that and now no more flikkering. You cant see it by eye, but only on camera screen.

Pretty special talent you have Stephan. Are you looking at the picture of the real figurehead throughout, or is that now firmly in your mind?
Both, but the picture doesn't give a total view from the top.

Hi stephan,
Did you buy Bernice already a noise cancelling headphone?
The Phone is just 15 cm above the workpiece, so it looks like a lot of noise. And in the kitchen the fume extractor above the oven then makes too much noise to hear it.

@All thanks again for the visit, likes and nice comments.
Half a year nothing and then 3 times a day a update. I hope it is not to much, but I want you to show the steps I make. The top of the nose and the cheeks are done and I think the eyes too. Don't mess around to long with them. The details are so small I needed next to my double reading glasses a magnifying glass.

the ears are next, difficult to place them right.
I have the head figure of the 7P as example and I will take that for sure as guiding.

IMG_4951.JPG
the underside of the ear is in the mid of the eye and I have a picture of the figure head where you look from below, and there you can see that the ears lying almost behind the eye. So there is enough wood left to the side for the ears and hair. also because the head gets smaller behind the eyes. Yes I was worried that it wouldn't paste and I had to glue a piece of wood to it.
below picture shows my direction. Looks strange but the head is looking up, so most of the big hair will be in the back.

Tomorrow another day to break my head about it.

I warned yesterday Y.T. to be careful when you disassemble the hand piece of the nail studio drill. There is a longitudinal ball bearing in the handpiece and the balls are getting loose in time. So when you opening the handpiece, keep it straight and take the bearing complete out. The balls are less then a mm in diameter. So I opened the handpiece to get rid of the dust inside (you can hear it when it gets dirty inside, it makes a different noise then normal) and instantly 2 of these ball decided to go and discover the floor of my room. Luckily with a magnet you can find them, but it took me 1 hour to get under every piece of furniture to find them. I gonna buy a spare for next time. Because I was lucky to find them back.

But it couldn't take the fun of working on my lion. The ears are ready and I started on the big lion's mane, The top of the head and the back are next. But first I polish the already work to see a bit of the end result. Enjoy the pictures.

The round eye's have a diameter of less then 1,2 mm. The oval shape around the eye I make that with a round burs of 03 mm. the smalles I could buy. You need a magnifier to see the head and a very steady hand. I even holding my breath when carving that part.

I only use 2 kind of burs in different sizes. The drop and spear burs.
First I grab an X-acto knife andcut the line of the hair part where I want to go down in the wood. In this way I make a pad for the bur to follow. You don't have to go deep with the knife, a scratch is enough, just to let the point of the drop bur hold the place and don't jump around. It will do that for sure. Then when you got it a little deeper after a few times going over the cut, you can bring some force to go deep inside the wood. If I look to the pictures I think at some places I can go deeper. We will see when the rest of the head is done.

Hi Stephan,

Found some more 7P lion pictures and I think the snout should be a little les wide.

That I didn't find them Redface they standing on Modelbrouwers. I found some more on blogs.
Let me rethink this over.

I see the problem and see also some other details, like the part between the eyes. that part is welcome to.

sama.jpg

the upper lips are adjustable. It's a small part to remove to get the same look. The jaw under could be a problem, maybe a small part of the lips on the side and then a big part under the mouth to the mane in the back.

But there is no world gone, or how do they say that in English. I have plenty of buxus and can start over. Because I see the manes are also rounder and the ear of mine are to flat. But that could be solved by adjusting the eyesockets. I can make them a little smaller to the side.

When you put above pictures next to each other you can see that the adjustment below the noose is possible.

IMG_4959.JPG

And look above, spare me. I build in 1/75, this is the biggest ornament on the ship ROTF the rest will be much smaller.
When I look to that picture I think the whole part I carved is to big to the sides.

But when I hold it in my hands it isn't that bad at al. The picture look much different then the real thing.

I have great respect for what you have carved till now, Stephan. You have to keep so many details in mind. But a lion with a personal touch is no problem for me.
Regards, Peter

I gave it a try to get the under jaw smaller to the side. I get a mm or 1,5 of on each side. On the picture difficult to see. Alse the opening of the mouth to the back is a little more. It did something in total. The picture of the original Lion of the HZ model shows a les avant lion then mine. So I leave the head like this. I'm going to start with another difficult part, the feet.

This is how it looks now.
